Job Description

Job Summary:

The Program Specialist I position reports directly to the Administrator I and is responsible for planning and overseeing special events and public relations activities, and coordinating other student, parent, staff and faculty activities as needed to assist in meeting the Department's mission and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and oversees the special departmental events and public relations activities as directed by the Administrator I. Serves as backup to Administrative Coordinator II position.
  • Coordinates arrangements for survey camp and directs the annual scholarship banquets. Organizes and plans commencement receptions and various other events.
  • Works with the administrative staff in the Department Head's office to arrange various activities involving students, parents, staff and faculty.
  • Supervises student workers as needed.
  • Provides administrative support to scholarship committee.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • No prior experience required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Event planning.
  • Building relationships with students, faculty and staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
