Job Description

Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
The Program Specialist will provide support for the college success coaches as they seek to support and enhance the success of student participants in the College Success Coach Initiative.
Some of the administrative services include the following:
-Prepare requisitions as required.
-Order supplies and maintain inventory as required.
-Create graphics for flyers, postcards, and other program media; work with the Institutional Advancement Department to ensure that College standard is met.
-Design and develop program newsletter.
-Maintain the “Community Resources Toolkit”.
-Greet and direct students in the target population to success coaches.
-Communicate with the student population via email, phone calls, and mailings.
-Provide direct support to success coaches as needed.
-Create and maintain the program’s webpage.
-Operate effectively between two campuses, taking into consideration unique campus cultures.
Other duties including the following:
-Coordinate and administer program activities.
-Manage communications, documents, and files.
-Keep a record of expenditures to ensure that an accurate budget is maintained.
-Record and file meeting minutes.
-Maintain a calendar of events.
-Prepare reports; collect and compile program data for grant reporting.
-Review files and other documents to gain information for accurate responses to data requests.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
-Related work experience in an office setting utilizing time management and customer service skills.
-Proven use of organization skills and being detailed-oriented.
-Display excellent leadership skills and problem-solving skills.
-Knowledge of administrative practices, office procedures, and use of general office equipment.
-Proficient working knowledge of internet applications and PC-based software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and email (Microsoft Office preferred).
-Demonstrated active listening to respond appropriately to internal and external customer concerns.
-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other college stakeholders.
-Willingness to work at the Franklin and Suffolk campuses.
-Must possess a valid driver’s license.
