Job Summary
Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invite applications for a Program Specialist 2 position to begin January 3, 2022. The Program Specialist 2 reports to the Chair of the School of Nursing. The individual supports the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) with oversight of all clinical requirements for students and faculty. The preferred candidate for this position possesses knowledge and skills that are unique to nursing education programs and/or clinical settings.
Position oversees day-to-day program operations and resolves problems within assigned scope of authority. Position plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates operations of the assigned programs as delegated by the Chair. The position interprets, reviews and applies program policies and procedures, and develops plans for carrying out program activities.
Position assesses the needs of the programs and makes recommendations to the Chair. Position serves as the program liaison, has extensive contact with program participants, and provides advising and consultation to students, faculty, and outside entities regarding the programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Responsibility for program operations beyond entry-level work, including developing, overseeing, organizing, implementing, evaluating outcomes and modifying tasks
  • Work experience in a busy professional office environment that demonstrates:
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
    • Ability to communicate effectively
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to utilize good judgement and discretion
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, administration, or health sciences
  • Prior experience with clinical setting or education programs
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office, Google Suite, WordPress, and large data information systems and databases.
  • Knowledge of software programs commonly used in academic settings such as Canvas, EagleNet, Banner, and WebAdMIT.

    Clinical Education Programming
    • Oversee operations; respond to inquiries and resolve problems. Assess needs of the program, and make recommendations to the Chair
    • Ensure clinical students and faculty meet qualifications required by the Clinical Placements Northwest Consortium
    • Maintain clinical onboarding database for students and clinical faculty
    • Maintain records and ensure currency of clinical affiliation agreements between clinical agencies and EWU contract services
    • Develop, maintain, and update forms and assemble information packets for clinical instructors and preceptors
    • Prepare, distribute, and maintain records of student evaluations of clinical sites, clinical instructors, and preceptors
    • Track licensure of all faculty and special clinical faculty
    • Interpret, review, update and apply clinical education policies and procedures
    • Coordinate new clinical instructor orientation and ongoing professional development opportunities
