The Department of Pediatrics is the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine and includes 2 subspecialty ACGME sections.

The Division of General Pediatrics has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Program Operations Specialist. This is a grant funded position with a grant end date. The work is contingent upon hiring this position to manage all grant activities. The goal of the multi-site CDC grant is to prevent and control COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases among Limited English Proficiency (LEP) immigrant communities. The Program Operations Specialist will provide project management and research/evaluation support for community engaged research and evaluation projects within the Migration Health, Resilience and Multilingual Research Collaborative at Harborview Medical Center in the Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in health, public health, human centered design or health communication focused on immigrant and multilingual communities within the United States. The ideal applicant is highly organized, strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to cultural humility and has prior experience with public health research or program evaluation, qualitative evaluation ,and the development of communication materials. Experience working in languages other than English (e.g. French, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Pashto, Dari, Ukrainian or Russian) is advantageous.

This team member will work independently across public health projects under the direct supervision of Dr. Dawson-Hahn and with with outside public health agencies and community organizations in refugee health. This research study requires attention to detail and cultural humility. This position supports the externally funded research PI at the University of Washington in migration health, resilience and multilingual research. It supports the Universities equity diversity and inclusion and population health initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • 25% Coordinate and manage working group meetings by creating organizational structure and communication plan for the 15 working group meetings.
• 20% Development and monitoring of timelines and program management strategies
• 10% Coordinate communication with collaborators and study team members
• 10% Design of Limited English Proficiency communication materials in collaboration with stakeholders
• 5% Participate in development of project design of Limited English Proficiency communication tools
• 5% Synthesis of listening sessions
• 5% Iterative development of communication materials with collaborator feedback
• 5% Analysis of qualitative data
• 5% Preparation of progress reports
• 5% Writing and preparation of documents for dissemination
• 2.5% Development of ongoing collaborative partnerships
• 2.5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, communications, human centered design or related field or equivalent experience.
• One year of experience in research, health, public health, human centered design, communications or equivalent education and training.

***Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.***

Desired Qualifications:

    • Two years of experience in research, health, public health, human centered design, communications or equivalent education and training
• Experience with data analysis and management software, such REDCap, Dedoose, Stata or R
• Experience with Adobe Creative Studio, Photoshop, Canvas or related products
• Advanced skill in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Zoom
• Strong skills in development of communication materials through an iterative process with multiple collaborators
• Experience with designing and producing communication materials and information graphics
• Experience partnering with multilingual communities
• Commitment to entering and maintaining collaborative working relationships with cultural humility, kindness and respect across university, public health and community led stakeholders
• Working knowledge of health care systems, public health, and relevant agencies
• Skill in balancing multiple demands simultaneously under time constraints
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
• Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of collaborating with and coordinating a wide variety of stakeholders
• Excellent organizational skills including independently managing multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results
• Ability to communicate well with stakeholders in public health, health and community contexts
• Ability to review existing research, literature, and resources to contribute to the creation of evidence-based materials and research instruments.
