Position Description

Reporting to the Program Director for Nondiscrimination and Professional Conduct and the Associate Dean for Human Resources (HR), this position is responsible for responding to disclosures, assessment, training and prevention efforts, communication, and reporting in connection with Title VI /Title VII, and professional conduct-related issues on behalf of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Office for Faculty Affairs and FAS HR. This position acts as an intermediary liaison between both groups, helping to project manage issues and concerns that involve both FAS Faculty Affairs and FAS HR.


Response:

  • Receive and respond to disclosures of unprofessional conduct, including Title VI and Title VII-based discrimination and harassment. Implement non-disciplinary supportive measures and interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with University and FAS policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations, including systems for monitoring compliance and reporting
  • Conduct interviews, conduct informal fact-finding, analyze qualitative data, and author reports on the climate in departments, centers, laboratories, and other groups.

Training and Prevention:

  • Research, author, and present educational training programs and publications for faculty and staff.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Work with constituents (e.g., FAS Office for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Office of Dispute Resolution, Office of the General Counsel, Ombuds Office, Office of Labor and Employee Relations, etc.) on strategy, communications, best practices, and coordination of the University's response to Title VI, Title VII and professional conduct-related issues.
  • Advise and support FAS leadership, informing them of Title VI, Title VII, and professional conduct issues, patterns, and changes to laws and policies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced degree and higher education experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with Title VI, Title VII, and related federal and state laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise high-level of discretion and good judgment, and ability to quickly establish credibility with a broad range of constituents of all backgrounds.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written work and to effectively give presentations to small and large groups. Strong commitment to supporting equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and academic excellence through continuous process improvement.
  • Legally- compliant writing, research, and analytical skills necessary to effectively conduct complex assessments of organizational climate.

Working Conditions

This position will be based in Cambridge, MA and will allow for a hybrid schedule.
