General Notes

This is an in-person position at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.
 


Purpose

This position will lead to hiring a chemical engineering advisor to assist the AEC PI with AEC objectives related to program management of nano payload delivery solutions and materials, and sensor coating programs.  This posting is for a hands-on CTO-level program manager/technology advisor with a proven record of innovation in both lab and commercial settings. 

  • The hired candidate is expected to conduct discipline-leading original research to meet the AEC deliverables on flow assurance programs expeditiously. 

  • Assist in tailoring nano-asphaltene or scale inhibition for specific field conditions.   

  • Assist and lead scale-up of materials for pilot projects.

  • Supervise graduate students and post-doctoral researchers as needed.

  • Organize and lead technical meetings with stakeholders.

  • Assisted PI in developing proposals in response to new grant opportunities and then helped manage the obtained grants to facilitate the demonstration of AEC research at various scales.

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations at scientific meetings and invited presentations.

  • Support outreach and AEC’s new member recruitment efforts

  • Maintain a robust scientific publication effort.


Responsibilities

  • Program management and lab studies related to scale-up and tuning of AEC’s nano payload delivery solutions and coating programs.

  • Grant Writing - obtained grants to facilitate the demonstration of AEC research at various scales.

  • Identify and manage chemical scale-up partners for pilot projects.

  • Write peer-reviewed papers and present at meetings and conferences.


Required Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in chemical engineering degree or a related field.

  • Proven excellence in publishing in top scientific journals.

  • At least five years of practical experience leading design, engineering, and manufacturing teams for nanotechnology and/or polymer-based systems.

  • Involvement in industrial batch-wise and continuous polymerization plant (minimum of 10 Kg/h capacity) pilot and large-scale plants  

  • A minimum of 10 years of combined experience in at least three functions: research, development, operations, business development, consulting, and geosciences in either upstream oil and gas operations, midstream, downstream, refining, chemical plants, engineering, digital solutions, and/or technology innovation.

  • Experience in developing business solutions for new technology-based products or services.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years post-PhD degree experience in an active research/industry collaboration environment.

  • Stakeholder management skills

  • Proven ability to negotiate

  • The ability to self-motivate and motivate a team

  • Startup experience is a plus

  • Fundraising (grants, stakeholder recruitment) experience is highly desired


Salary Range

$120,000 - $140, 000
