Definition of Class

This position manages departmental programs and activities. The incumbent manages and participates in the operation of programs, promotes the development and administration of objectives and strategic goals, and builds collaborative relationships supporting program activities.


Examples of Work Performed
  • Manages and coordinates the department’s graduate student orientation program including ensuring students’ participation; participating in required health, safety and research training courses; distributing and maintaining laboratory coats, safety glasses and laboratory notebooks; and managing office/laboratory space needs.
  • Manages semester preparations, including securing classrooms, and ensuring the course catalog and department website is updated for each program, as needed.
  • Works with communication staff to maintain the department’s website and promote educational activities and accomplishments on social media.
  • Assists with application screenings for the department’s graduate programs.
  • Communicates with prospective students to address admission requirements and questions, and coordinates admission and enrollment with appropriate University personnel.
  • Coordinates laboratory rotations of new graduate students.
  • Provides assistance to faculty advisors in the student selection process for thesis projects and coordinates non-thesis projects, as needed.
  • Manages, plans and coordinates social and informational departmental events.
  • Assists in preparation, monitoring, and reconciliation of budgets for graduate programs, workshops and post-graduate course offerings.
  • Manages the planning, promotion, and operation of the Hands-On Course in Tablet Technology and other post-graduate courses and workshops.
  • Prepares graduate program reports including, enrollment trends, diversity, job placement success; and identifies areas that need attention as it relates to the department’s strategic goals.
  • Coordinates the department’s graduate internship program.
  • May teach in the School of Pharmacy, in area(s) of expertise.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates communication to build collaborative relationships.

  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

    AND

    Experience:
    Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.

    Substitution Statement:

    Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
