Job Overview

The executive leadership of the School of Nursing (SON) features administrative verticals in the areas of (1) Faculty affairs, (2) Finance/HR/administration, (3) Marketing and Yield, (4) Student advising/development, and (5) Data Analytics and Compliance. 

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student & Academic Affairs, the Program Manager is an integral member of the leadership team in the Student Academic Affairs vertical and is situated in the Advising/Student Development/vertical to meet the needs of all stakeholders. 

Integral to the School of Nursing, the Program Manager provides guidance and recommendations regarding school-wide and departmental process improvement, strategic communications, and compliance with University, GUMC and SON policies at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

As well, they ensure that the needs of SON stakeholders are met in terms of course scheduling, planning and/or oversight of most academic affairs-sponsored events, particularly Commencement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors programs for the department
  • Supports students during the admission and decision-making process phase through enrollment until graduation
  • Manages communication with the department’s stakeholders
  • Assists in collaboration with other departments to ensure a coordinated approach to student recruitment and retention activities
  • Initiates, develops, and sustains strong positive relations with program coordinators and departmental leadership to ensure achievement of the mission and goals of the department and SON
  • Assists with the design and implementation of program evaluations
  • Manages all administrative aspects of the department’s compliance with CAMHE’s accreditation criteria
  • Manages faculty appointment packets and adjunct faculty contracts
  • Executes financial reconciliation processes for the department and assists in developing budgets
  • Works with Associate Dean for Student & Academic Affairs to solve problems and issues that may arise with student records
  • Manages projects from inception to completion
  • Organizes course scheduling with the registrar

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 to 3 years of work experience - preference for 3 to 5 years in higher education or in a similar capacity in a program manager or administrative role
  • Familiarity with various data management systems, including Banner, Cognos, and GMS/Workday
  • Strong organizational skills and precise attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and respond to ever-changing environments comprised of a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience planning and running successful large-scale and concurrent events
