Job Overview

The selected candidate will provide program support for both the Department of Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures and the Department of Asian, Eastern European, and German Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences. The candidate will process course offerings; create promotional materials online and in print; run data enrollment reports; oversee course evaluations; manage departmental schedules, make travel arrangements, and oversee event planning; maintain departmental office spaces, supplies, equipment, and computers; manage department website, listservs, and newsletters; distribute mail and coordinate departmental needs.  In addition, this person will assist the financial administrator with the graduate student hiring and onboarding and provide academic and administrative support to the departments' graduate programs. This person may also assist in processing paperwork for international guests, faculty, and students.

 

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY, following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.


Essential Functions
  • Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs.  Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations.
  • Implement policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports. 
  • Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
  • May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience.


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Ideal candidate would have extensive travel and event planning experience.
  • Familiarity with website content management applications (like AEM, eProf, or WordPress) or data and financial management systems (Catalyst, CaRT, Concur).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and successfully prioritize responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Flexible, adaptable and self-starter.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.
