Posting Context Statement
The Program Manager, Regional Food Systems will coordinate Idaho’s engagement in the Northwest and Rocky Mountain Regional Food Business Center. They will support resilient regional food systems by providing technical assistance and market access for small to mid-sized food producers, processors, distributors and retailers, and through developing more robust supply chain connections for climate resilient agriculture products. Preferred candidates will have the expertise to engage underserved food and farming audiences in co-creating pathways to small business viability and resilient local and regional food systems.
Position Overview
This position supports the planning and completion of educational, outreach or professional programs; working with program staff, students, the public and/or agencies, to plan and oversee program activities. May lead a distinct area for the program such as outreach, assessment or financial management.
Duties may include:
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program deliverables, services, and activities
  • Coordinate a team with a variety array of talents and responsibilities
  • Collect, compile, and summarize program data for reports
  • Participate in developing program operating goals, objectives and protocols
  • Maintain program budgets, monitoring and reviewing transactions for compliance with program requirements
  • Active participation in the development and submission of program proposals
  • Lead collection and compilation of program assessment data­
  • May supervise the work of others or lead a team to accomplish assigned goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications


Required Experience
  • Two years of program coordination or program management experience
  • Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Collecting, compiling, summarizing and analyzing data for administrative reports
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree; four additional years of experience in program coordination (for a total of six years) may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree
Required Other
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
  • Must be able to:
    • Work nonstandard hours to conduct and attend evening and weekend programs, activities and meetings as needed
    • Travel to other work sites
Additional Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree Food Science, Food Systems, Business, Adult Education or related field; prefer a Master’s Degree in related field
  • Experience with processing financial transactions and compiling routine management reports
  • Experience in developing and implementing technical assistance programs for agricultural producers, food businesses and other small businesses
  • Experience independently solving problems and coordinating multi-state activities requiring complex arrangements
  • Experience with interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse individuals and groups
  • Ability to be flexible with assignments and multiple priorities
  • Ability to manage time effectively
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move programming supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds
