What we want

The Program Manager for Undergraduate Student Academic Success programming will manage, develop, and assist in the implementation of the Hullabaloo U, and Science Leadership Scholars’ programs.  The Program Manager will oversee efforts for assisting A&S students, especially first-generation students, and students from underrepresented populations, in the acquisition of academic, social, and professional skills. Additionally, the Program Manager will assist in first year and multi-year programming. Position details : Supervises 1 – Program Coordinator. Position may require occasional evening and weekend hours and may require occasional travel.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years of program management experience including some course management and academic counseling.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree.

  • More than five years of experience in program management including some course management and academic counseling, and classroom instruction.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with TAMU portals, such as Argos, Navigate, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Development and Oversight of Hullabaloo U - Develops, oversees, coordinates, and assesses all aspects of Hullabaloo U implementation across the college to improve first year retention and empower first year students to succeed academically, professionally, and socially. Develop, refresh, and maintain course content for the Hullabaloo U common course. Prepares reports related to Hullabaloo U progress. Establishes short- and long-term goals and strategic planning. Attends relevant university level meetings, as well as local, regional, and national professional meetings related to student success, and first generation and/or underrepresented student success. Supervise the Program Coordinator associated with Hullabaloo U. Assist peer Program Manager with oversight of transfer student programming. Establishes goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for all college FYE programming. Assists with coordination of student mentors associated with Hullabaloo U, and Science Leadership Scholars. Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with collaborating offices and departments. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate. Develops transition and retention initiatives that are informed by best practices in higher education to address needs of first year, first generation, and/or underrepresented students. Teach at least one Hullabaloo U course every year. Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming.

  • Development and Oversight of Other Student Success Programs - Develops, oversees, and assesses all aspects of other undergraduate student programs to improve first year retention and empower first year students, particularly first generation and/or underrepresented students to succeed academically, professionally, and socially. Prepares reports related to various programs’ progress. Establishes short- and long-term goals and strategic planning. Supervise the Program Coordinator associated with related programs. Establishes goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for all college FYE programming. Assists with coordination of student mentors associated with Hullabaloo U, and other relevant programs. Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with collaborating offices and departments. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate. Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming. Performs other duties as assigned.
