Program Manager II

The Program Manager II will administratively managing a large or complex University program or multiple programs. Provides input in the development of program plan and objectives with responsibility for achieving objectives within defined parameters. Typically supervises small staffs and are responsible for long range planning. Responsibilities include budgeting, networking/public relations, technical training and assistance, grant and report writing. May handle regulatory responsibilities, contract submissions and identify research funding. May handle event planning and oversight of construction projects.

 

Job Summary

1. Responsible for administratively managing the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Facility (BBSF/BSBI) area (e.g., handle sensitive information in a confidential manner, and resolve organizational issues as they arise).   2. Participate with the supervision of Statistician(s) working on research in the field through data collection and management.  3. Expedite future grant preparation as well as assisting in training new staff on administrative functions and UAB policies and guidelines as it relates to upcoming grant awards and contracts.  4. Navigate all BBSF/BSBI event planning such as faculty/ staff meetings, Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) open/closed sessions as a non-voting member with NHLBI representatives (i.e., correspondence with sites/teams, report study processes, action items, and progress on excel spreadsheets, complete follow-ups and other tasks as needed), and lead requested accommodation(s) of the annual O'Neal Cancer Center Retreat.  5. Organize, manage, and circulate O'Neal Cancer Center Protocol Review and Motoring Board (PRMC) Statistical Reviewers' comments and data summaries as it relates to Principle Investigator's study design. 6. Utilize EndNote resources as well as scientific writing skills to modify cancer related articles and manuscripts.  7. Manage faculty effort allocation documents as it relates to financial and federal compliance regulations (e.g., maintain/order supplies for grants, and process travel arrangements and reimbursements in accordance with established award/project budgets).   8. Operate and promote the bi-weekly Biostatics and Bioinformatics virtual clinic.  9. Review, edit, design, and distribute professional publications such as the annual Tumor Registry Report.  10. Sustain multiple faculty and staff members Outlook calendars, in addition to other esteemed colleagues inside and outside of UAB, as it relates to organization and management of key meeting responsibilities. 11. Provide support for the BBSF faculty to properly submit proposal applications for funding to a variety of sponsors in a timely manner.  12. Prepare documentation related to various progress reports, just-in-time submissions, along with, data use agreement submissions, and contractual agreements (i.e., compose, type, update, proofread, and edit general correspondence, memos, presentation materials, forms, and recurring reports). 13. Assist faculty and staff in preparation of grant applications for internal and external funding by providing input into the development of federal forms required for grand submissions such as Biosketches and Other Support documents.  14. Responsible for training new BBSF/BSBI employees on UAB policies and grant related procedures. 15. Evaluate new executive techniques, contribute to team efforts, and participate in professional cultures such as Public Relations Society of America and its code of ethics. 16. Promote employee engagement within the Division through team building activities and initiates.  17. Contribute sound counsel to the Division Interim Director through public relations strategical tactics such as serving as a liaison between the Department of Medicine Communications team, while encouraging image repair/rebranding and crafting web page design.

Salary Range: $ 51,270- $83,300

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • and five (5) years of related experience required.
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
