What We Are Looking For:

The Baylor Department of Center of Academic Success and Engagement is seeking a Program Manager for Supplemental Instruction to help support the mission of Baylor University.

An Bachelor's Degree, two years of relevant experience, and an active Christian faith is required. A Master's Degree and three years of relevant experience is preferred. 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do: 

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing an exemplary and comprehensive Supplemental Instruction program 
  • Identify weaknesses or problems in the current SI program and solve or make recommendations for improvement 
  • Serve as overall coordinator of the SI program: 
  • Select and train SI Leaders 
  • Assist with revision of SI Leader training materials and resources
  • Plan and direct periodic group meetings of all campus SI Leaders
  • Provide on-site supervision of the SI program 
  • Supervise SI in all classes in which it is offered 
  • Serve as primary liaison with departmental administrators and faculty members 
  • Promote the SI program 
  • Gather and analyze all data associated with the SI program (e.g., SI attendance, grades, surveys, handouts generated by the SI Leaders) 
  • Ensure that midterm SI feedback surveys and end-of-term surveys are distributed and the results analyzed in a timely manner (recommended within two weeks) 
  • Secondary Responsibilities 

    • Supervise 80 – 100 SI each term 
      • Observe SI sessions as specified in the SI model 
      • Regularly meet with the SI Leaders and SI Leadership team
      • Discuss observations of the SI sessions 
      • Require and assist SI Leaders to create SI session plans 
      • Encourage SI Leaders to use a wide variety of collaborative learning techniques 
    • Act as liaison to faculty involved in the SI program. Gather feedback concerning the SI program 

    Maintenance Responsibilities 

  • Solicit, interview, and hire SI Leaders for the following term: 
  • Gather faculty member recommendations  
  • Advertise the positions 
  • Interview candidates 
  • Ensure ignite onboarding is complete prior to per-semester training 
  • Solicit, interview, and hire graduate assistant SI Leaders following term: 
  • Ensure that all SI Leaders and graduate assistants complete the necessary personnel paperwork
  • Book and manage all room reservations for all SI Leaders 
  • Plan for and conduct ongoing training sessions for Leaders throughout the semester 
  • Make an annual budget for all SI expenses (e.g., salaries, texts, advertising, photocopying) 
  • Assist with time cards and payroll-related personnel paperwork 
  • Secure necessary materials (e.g., notebooks, summary margin paper, graph paper, note cards, textbooks, cand, etc.) 
  • Complete end-of-term reports for campus faculty and administration 
  • Plan appropriate receptions for SI Leaders, Supervisors, and participating faculty members 
  • Program Development Activities 

  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing an exemplary and comprehensive Supplemental Instruction program. 
  • Identify weaknesses or problems in the current SI program and make recommendations for their solution 
  • Each term, identify high-risk courses and make recommendations for SI courses. 
  • Gain and maintain faculty cooperation. 
  • Identify and secure campus resources for the SI program (e.g., SI Leader salaries, textbooks, photocopying expenses, grant opportunities, etc.) 
  • Assist with the revision and development of SI training materials. 
  • Continually revise and reevaluate training, supervision, and hiring processes in order to improve the campus program 
  • Create and facilitate SI Leader training workshops before the beginning of each term 
  • Continue to analyze the effectiveness of the SI program: 
  • Collect raw data (e.g., SI attendance, term grades, surveys, etc.) 
  • Analyze data 
  • Submit course reports to campus faculty and administrators 
  • Submit annual reports to campus faculty administrators 
  • Conduct periodic program evaluations, potentially in partnership with UMKC and the International Center of Supplemental Instruction
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission. 
  • Ability to comply with University policies.  
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
