Serves as the Program Manager for Forensic Outreach at Texas A&M School of Nursing plans, organizes, directs and manages the day-to-day activities for Forensic Nurse Education (FNE) and SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) education funding/grants and other forensic outreach projects. The Program Manager reports to the Director of the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing. The position manages grant activities, such as learner applications, licensure verification, scheduling for classes, and organizing Community of Practice meetings. If the position is filled with a Registered Nurse, the RN also provides consultation to clinical forensic nursing programs, develops and implements continuing education (short courses) directly to providers throughout the state.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field

  • Five years of experience coordinating/managing programs, specifically a forensic/SANE or closely related program.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • N/a if not a registered nurse

  • If applicable, RN licensure

  • If RN, must also have: SANE-A and SANE-P and/or CA-SANE and CP-SANE

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, slide presentation, and spreadsheet applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment. May require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Travel required. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SANE-A and SANE-P and/or CASANE/ CP SANE, and/or GFN-C or AFN-C

Responsibilities:

  • Managing, Teaching, and Implementation of Outreach Program : Plans organizes, directs and manages day-to-day activities for FNE/SANE education funding/grants and other forensic outreach projects. Interacts with participants in education and outreach programs to respond to questions and inquires. Manages participant database. Attends and participates in team meetings. Prepares and presents reports on continuing education programs offered and to funders as required. Develops and maintains competency in specialized software platforms maintained by forensic nursing. Maintains expertise in specialty through continuing education, practice, and consultation. May supervise program support staff and student assistants. Participates in recruitment efforts for the Forensic Health Care Program and Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing.

  • Coordinating and Planning Funded Activities: Assists director in developing strategic plans and goals for the funded activities. Manages participant applications. Conducts licensure verification for participants. Schedules participants for courses and preceptorships. Participates in the facilitation of simulation continuing education for new and practicing forensic nurses. Coordinates the posting and registration for continuing education courses for the learners. Collaborate with faculty to develop continuing nursing education course offerings. Coordinates the planning of trainings and conferences. Maintain supplies necessary for simulation experiences. Liaise with the Clinical Learning Resource Center to schedule simulation experiences for SANE education courses. Consults with Forensic Nursing/SANE programs throughout the state on areas of development and sustainability. Participates in planning activities and implementation for funded projects.
