What we want

The Program Manager must be knowledgeable about Texas A&M University traditions and core values. The Program Manager is responsible for advising and overseeing the Yell Leader program and working with university, division, and student leadership to represent Texas A&M University. The position will provide advising, leadership, oversight, training, development, and media consultation for the Yell Leader program. The selected candidate will be a member of the Office of the Vice President (OVPSA) team and will contribute to a successful office in supporting students and their experience on campus. They will also help the Division of Student Affairs keep the core values and traditions at the forefront of staff development.

What you need to know

Salary:  $52,000 - $60,000/year (Compensation will be based on selected hire’s education and experience).

Position details: May indirectly supervise an Administrative Coordinator.

Assists with transportation of materials to events, which will require the ability to lift and/or move moderate to heavy weight.

Work Schedule: Evening work and/or overnight travel will be required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years’ experience in the areas of student and/or student organizations advising, promotions, brand management, and/or university relations.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Primary Advisor to the Texas Aggie Yell Leaders and Program Manager of Yell Leader Program:

  • Serves as the primary advisor to the Texas Aggie Yell Leaders which includes oversight and advisement of the daily operational aspects of the Yell Leader Program.

  • Develops and conducts training for the Yell Leaders in the areas of the student org. functions to include public relations, leadership development, risk management, financial management, travel.

  • Assists with the development and production of materials designed for the program.

  • Oversees all Midnight Yell Practice operations including safety, security, promoting, Corps of Cadets appearances (Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, Parson’s Mounted Calvary, Corps Juniors), Emergency Management, University Police Department, Athletics Department.

  • Attends all Midnight Yell Practices, football games, and post season basketball tournaments with the Yell Leaders.

  • Drives Yell Leaders to functions/events as required, which requires the use of a University vehicle.

  • Approves the Yell Leader travel schedule and public appearances.

  • Plans, organizes, and manages day-to-day activities and overall oversight and advisement of the Texas Aggie Yell Leader program.

Public Relations:

  • Serve as the liaison to the Association of Former Yell Leaders, Athletics Department, Marketing & Communications, Corps of Cadets, and other campus partners and administrative units.

  • Ensure the Texas A&M University brand management and tradition of the Yell Leaders is upheld including uniforms, appearances, and public speaking.

Budget Management:

  • Assists with budgetary processes for the Yell Leader Program which includes operations, Midnight Yell operations, scholarships, uniforms, and public appearances.

Staff Development and Traditions:

  • Serves on the Division of Student Affairs Staff Development Team ensuring programs align with Texas A&M University core values: Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, Integrity, and Selfless Service and the division’s strategic plan.

  • Serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff regarding Texas A&M University traditions and teaching and upholding those traditions on campus.

  • Oversees the high visibility organization which represents Texas A&M University and the brand at the local, state, and national level.
