Job Description:


Position Purpose
Provide leadership, coordination, and direction for the Continuing Education/Customized Training (CE/CT) Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement Services Training areas. Market customized training services, non-credit and credit courses, and consulting services to businesses, organizations and individuals and manage programs to generate surplus revenue to the College.
Position Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver revenue-generating credit and non-credit courses / programs, services, and customized training.
  • Identify training opportunities, conduct needs assessments, and market research to confirm market needs.
  • Recommend new programs and/or courses for development to meet the needs of business and industry.
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and direction for the Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement Services program/Training Areas.
  • Develop curriculum, hire subject-matter experts, write course descriptions, ensure compliance with approval bodies, etc. to initial courses.
  • Consult with licensing/approval bodies to secure CEUs/certifications needed by participants.
  • Identify new training opportunities and niche markets that will generate additional revenue for the College. Publicize and promote offerings to maximize enrollment and profitability.
  • Manage courses, develop, and monitor budgets and enrollments, and respond to participants with special needs/complaints.
  • Meet requirements with the College for reports, communications, outreach and maintain control over work processes.
  • Represent Continuing Education/Customized Training (CE/CT) on college committees or in the community at conferences, workforce centers, professional organizations, labor unions, job fairs, trade shows and other networking groups as assigned.
  • Perform professional responsibilities (planning, budgeting, evaluation, and communication) within areas of Continuing Education/Customized Training (CE/CT).
  • Contribute to Continuing Education/Customized Training (CE/CT) projects and initiatives.
  • Perform administrative/management/leadership tasks related the adjunct instructor pool, including but not limited, processing and submitting instructor pay, setting payrates, information management, scheduling, onboarding new instructors, correcting performance issues, ensuring qualified instructors.
  • Prepare and submit request for proposals for contractual training opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Database/training system management and input, including existing and future Century College/MnState systems, MBFTE provider program, D2L, Jones and Bartlett Navigate 2, etc.
  • Meet minimum annual sales quotas.
  • Manage equipment inventory including required annual inspections/testing, purchasing, NFPA compliance, etc.
  • Attend various Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement group meetings.

Required Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications: (expected to have to enter job)
  • Business/Industry Experience/Sales and/or Training expertise.
  • Strong written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Bottom line accountability and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Knowledge of emerging technology and business planning.
  • Knowledge of course and program design, instructional technology, and industry practices.
  • Driving is an integral part of responsibilities – Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:


Preferred Qualifications:(desired but not expected to have to enter job)
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State applicable statutes, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
  • Associates degree in Fire Science, EMS, or a Public Safety related field.
  • Current licensure or certification in Firefighter I & II, and Hazardous Materials.
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification.
