Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Program Manager! Working under the direction of the BSW Program Director, the Program Manager—BSW manages all aspects of the Bachelor of Social Work program at the undergraduate level, especially related to creating and implementing BSW policies, procedures, and processes aligned with national accreditation standards for the on-campus curriculum, as well as curriculum for future growth. Ensures the provision of accessible and equitable learning experiences and resources for students of all backgrounds, including those historically underrepresented in higher education.
Since the BSW Program Director is an elected position, the Program Manager—BSW is responsible for maintaining the BSW program’s strategic plan and maintaining historical and institutional knowledge about the MSW program’s curriculum, policies, procedures, and practices. The Program manager orients new Directors. The BSW Program Manager is a vital member of the BSW team.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • With the Program and Clinical Education Directors, organizes program evaluation efforts. Proactively seeks to increase efficiency & effectiveness to meet Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards. Organizes program evaluation processes. Collects & maintains program outcome data. Creates annual reports for the university & required the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Fosters a strong relationship with CSWE accreditation specialists & site visitors. Ensures BSW Student Handbook and Practicum Clinical Education Handbook are up-to-date and aligned with CSWE education policy & accreditation standards. Assures accreditation deadlines are met. With the BSW Director, prepares accreditation self-study documents, may act as primary author on some self-study sections, including (but not limited to) curriculum matrices reflecting CSWE’s required competencies & learning dimensions, uniform program syllabi, & faculty qualifications. Organizes accreditation site visits. Maintains the BSW website in alignment with CSWE policies & accreditation standards. 
  • Directs, facilitates, & participates in BSW admission & application cycle, tracks & orients incoming students. Collects/tracks data on BSW applicants & accepted students. Collaborates with the BSW Committee, evaluates admissions processes for equity in alignment with accreditation standards. Evaluates admissions process for efficiency & facilitates adjustments with college admissions staff. Creates & delivers orientation materials to newly admitted students to reduce admission’s melt. Coordinates communication procedures with prospective students, undergraduate students who have declared social work as their major, & newly admitted students. Manages/tracks BSW strategic enrollment goals. Liaisons between newly admitted students, advisors and the director. Directs BSW program marketing efforts to maintain qualified applicant pool. Creates & maintains annual marketing plan. Attends university undergraduate recruitment fairs, UVU events, & key marketing opportunities. Develops & distributes marketing materials. Collaborates with college marketing staff. Supports BSW student retention efforts by facilitating organization of the BSW Student Association. Maintains cohort lists & student contact data including deferrals & leaves of absence. Manages communication between the Program Director & students. Manages program’s email and social media accounts.
  • Fosters & maintains strong working relationships with community partners. Oversees systems & operations to maintain community ties & facilitate student clinical placements. Organizes & facilitates program & community events including the annual combined MSW/BSW Practicum Instructors Training (community), annual MSW/BSW Practicum Fair (community & students), & Practicum Appreciation Event (community & students). Organizes & attends biannual meetings of the MSW/BSW Advisory Board (community & faculty). 
  • Is a voting member of the BSW Program Committee in line with UVU Undergraduate Education Policy. Assists students with ethical behavior & professionalism. Collaborates with program & university advisors to mentor students. Attends committee meetings including curriculum assessment & revision, policy assessment & revision, & strategic planning. Member of the Student Support Committee which addresses unprofessional or unethical student behavior & student concerns. 
  • Monitors program budget & facilitates expenditures. Analyzes budget expenditures & assists BSW Director with necessary PBA requests. Oversees the organization of BSW files, data, course schedules. Participates in BSW faculty & staff hiring & assists director in orienting new employees to policies, procedures & standard practices. Prepares agenda & records meeting minutes for faculty meetings. Completes book orders. Provides administrative support for BSW faculty.


Minimum Qualifications

Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with program management experience or Masters of Public Administration (MPA) or combination of education and program management experience.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the Bachelor of Social Work Program 
  • Knowledge of administrative structure in higher education including UVU’s structure, system, personnel, and policies 
  • Knowledge of social work ethics, values, and competencies 
  • Knowledge of Council on Social Work Education accreditation processes
Skills:
  • Excellent computer skills including relevant Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams),Qualtrics, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, and Field Tracking Software as determined by the MSW Program. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
