Job Summary/Basic Function
Job Summary:
The Program Extension Associate, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) will provide project
management in the assigned program area to support high quality educational programs designed
to meet the needs across the regions. The position will be essential in providing project
management, communication and promotion of programming, and evaluation support of
programs. The Program Extension Associate will also conduct programming in assigned areas in
the Family and Consumer Sciences. The Program Extension Associate will report to the Program
Leader, Family and Consumer Sciences. This position will provide some coordination and
administrative support to the Southwest and Southern region. This is a hybrid position as the
candidate will have a home office but also need to travel daily within the Southwest / Southern
regions and with occasional statewide travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide project management for program area and other outreach and engagement activities
  • Develop and oversee communication and outreach for program promotion including website, social media, and newsletters
  • Coordination and project management of regional and statewide special events and conferences
  • Conduct classes, workshops, and meetings to educate diverse audiences delivering evidence-based programs in FCS
  • Implement effective and contemporary approaches to plan, deliver and evaluate programming.
  • Conduct needs assessments as directed by Program Leader to identify critically important issues and educational needs of clientele in the assigned region. This includes networking and collaborating with community organizations and other stakeholder groups and reaching out to underserved populations.
  • Provide coordination of communication for assigned region including newsletters and social media
  • Establish and facilitate community advisory boards in region and lead the quarterly meetings.
  • Establish professional relationships with faculty on campus to enhance extension programming.
  • Participate in teams to enhance the scope and reach of Extension programming.
  • Work with Program Leader to seek external funding and coordinate to enhance Extension
  • programming
  • Cultivate new partnerships and support professional relationships to further Extension programming to improve the lives of the citizens within the assigned region.
  • Discern the needs of culturally and economically diverse audiences.
  • Assist in providing civil rights and diversity training to, volunteers and advisory board members within the region
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in education, communications, agriculture, community development, health, nutrition, family relationships, youth development or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience with program development and management.
  • Excellent communication skills and a broad understanding of programming priorities.
  • Effective in an environment that combines independent action and teamwork with colleagues and external organizations.
  • Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional, proven competency in interpersonal relationship skills, including the ability to effectively relate to and communicate with staff, faculty, elected officials, colleagues, and program participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, including individuals with limited English skills.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of technology to support program delivery, ongoing
  • civil rights and diversity, and staff development.
  • Computer skills: Able to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite of software programs.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce University policy and best practices in a variety of areas,
  • including discrimination allegations, conflict of interest, volunteer management, and program liability.
  • Ability to plan and maintain a flexible work schedule, including evening and weekend work to meet time demands and/or special needs of program management.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with required liability insurance, to be utilized for frequent travel.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in teaching, community organizing, community and/or community education.
  • Direct experience in grants management and administration.
  • Ability to oversee the compliance of budgetary requirements and financial policies and
    procedures.
