The Program Director directs the implementation and administration of assigned programs, including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and monitoring program initiatives and projects. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource development, business administration, marketing or communications; or, equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ten years of related experience in program/project management, business management/development, and/or strategy development and execution

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience managing large projects.  Experience executing organizational development strategies

  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • PMP

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Foundational principles, theories, and models of cognitive science, adult learning, and communication.

  • Instructional modalities, as well as types and applications of instructional methods and techniques.

  • How formal and informal learning experiences influence and/or support individual and group development.

  • Principles, methods, and techniques of knowledge management, career development, and leadership development.

  • Methods and techniques for disseminating and/or sharing knowledge across individuals, groups, and organizations.

  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, techniques, and tools

  • Models and methods to evaluate the impact of learning and talent development solutions.

  • Business and/or organizational processes, operations, and outputs.

  • How organizations provide customer service.

  • Financial management principles.

  • Methods and criteria for sourcing, establishing, and/or managing partnerships.

  • Organizational development concepts, for example organizational design, job design, team formation, cultural norms, and culture transformation.

  • The principles, policies, and practices associated with programs and initiatives designed for organizational well-being

  • Strategies and techniques for building, supporting, and/or promoting an organizational culture that values talent and learning as drivers of competitive advantage.

  • Talent management functions

  • Succession planning and talent review processes

  • Methods to identify critical requirements of tasks, jobs, and roles

  • Approaches for identifying and developing high potential talent.

Proficiency level of competent in the following skills, using the novice to expert model (i.e., novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, expert):

  • Managing budgets and resources for program delivery.

  • Communicating business and financial information to different audiences.

  • Conveying recommendations or a course of action to gain agreement, support, and/or buy-in from stakeholders.

  • Implementing organizational development strategy.

  • Creating a culture which encourages and/or creates opportunities for dialogue and feedback between individuals and groups

  • Establishing and executing a marketing strategy to promote talent development.

  • Designing and implementing communication strategy in order to drive talent management objectives.

  • Communicating how talent development strategies and solutions support the achievement of targeted business/organizational results.

  • Communicating the value of learning and professional development.

Proficiency level of proficient in the following skills, using the novice to expert model (i.e., novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, expert):

  • Using human resource technology systems to store, retrieve, and process talent and talent development-related information.

  • Identifying the type and amount of information needed to support talent development activities.

  • Gathering and organizing data from internal and/or external sources in logical and/or practical ways to support retrieval and manipulation.

  • Synthesizing information to formulate recommendations to present to stakeholders.

  • Identifying, minimizing, and overcoming organizational barriers to implementing talent development solutions and/or strategies.

  • Analyzing and interpreting results of data analyses to identify patterns, trends, and relationships among variables.

  • Articulating and codifying talent and leadership principles, values, and competencies that guide the organization's culture and define behavioral expectations.

  • Coordinating the logistical tasks associated with planning meetings or learning events

  • Facilitating meetings and/or learning events in face-to-face and/or virtual environments

  • Identifying the type and amount of information needed to support talent development activities

  • Organizing and synthesizing information from multiple sources

  • Managing knowledge networks and communities of practice

  • Creating data collection tools

  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others

Responsibilities

Strategy Execution - Serves on Organizational Development leadership team and assists with developing strategic plans and goals to support program initiatives. Executes program strategic plans and ensures goals/objectives are met. Establishes positive, business relationships with stakeholders

Assist with assessing current state of career paths, leadership development, and/or career development efforts at department, college, division level. Reviews, drafts, and/or edits university policies and procedures to support program implementation. Identifies and secures program expansion resources. Analyzes program statistics for reporting, tracking progress, and making adjustments to program implementation plan. Researches, develops, and writes award applications and/or prepares presentations.

Financial Management - Prepares vouchers, purchase orders and requisitions for submission to business/finance contact. Assists developing and overseeing program budgets. Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes. Performs other duties as assigned.
