This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Jacobs Medical Center in San Diego, CA and remote.

The Program Director, OCMO Operations is part of the UC San Diego Health Office for the System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) & Chief Digital Officer (CDO), working closely with the Office Sr. Director/Chief of Staff, Chief Medical Officers, Associate Chief Medical Officers, and Health System medical/program directors to assess organizational opportunities and drive operational improvements through an internal, management consulting approach. This type of approach will require skills facilitating multi-service line and multi-discipline assessments, complex program/project management, change management, and other process-oriented approaches (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) to enhance institutional performance. This position will take a data-driven and innovative approach while collaborating with hospital leaders, service lines, clinicians, committees and outside organizations, as appropriate, to identify and address the root causes of organizational ineffectiveness in areas that the OCMO is responsible for leading and supporting. They will also recommend and facilitate initiatives and improvements, ensuring alignment with the overall organizational strategy, to support UC San Diego Health in furthering its status as a top health system in the nation and maintaining its top 10 Vizient ranking.

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training in project management, process improvement or consulting experience and/or a demonstrated ability to drive measurable improvements in a healthcare setting, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training in project management, process improvement or consulting experience and/or a demonstrated ability to drive measurable improvements in a healthcare setting.

  • Thorough knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions.

  • Experience in an academic, multi-hospital and/or community hospital environment.

  • Consulting experience in a healthcare or related environment.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Experience leading length of stay reduction/optimization initiatives.

  • Advanced degree.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
