The Director of Transfer Student Initiatives supports CU Denver’s commitment to assuring that transfer students experience a seamless transition to and through CU Denver.  This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success, in the Strategic Enrollment Management division. The Director of Transfer Student Initiatives is expected to be a leader who will move transfer practices, policies, and programs forward as we reimagine transfer student success at CU Denver.

The Director of Transfer Student Initiatives will improve the transfer processes; support and implement strategic data-informed transfer student success initiatives; review and revise transfer related policies, develop new pathways and clarify existing ones; work with campus partners to facilitate transfer student transition and engagement; and will be a key player in institutional efforts to implement innovations in the transfer and award of credit.

What you will do:
  • Review, maintain, and update existing articulation agreements that facilitate the transfer of academic credit.
  • Work collaboratively with CU Denver faculty/staff and community colleges to create clear and effective transfer pathways to CU Denver that respond to local industry demands and maximize the applicability of credit toward students’ programs of study.
  • Expand articulation efforts to better support students who transfer across state lines.
  • Lead the effort to systematically review and revise policies that impact the transfer of credit for prior learning to improve students’ ability to receive credit that applies to degree requirements.
  • Engage campus partners in systematic review of transfer processes and implement changes to streamline and improve operations resulting in more timely, efficient, and effective transfer experiences for students.
  • Work with campus partners to improve transparency of the transfer process so that students have a clear understanding of which credits will be awarded and how they will apply to degree pathways.
  • Collaborate with the Director of University Advising, school and college advising units, and community college advising offices to coordinate advising for students before, during, and after transfer.
  • Work with partners in Student Success and across the university to co-create and implement data-informed interventions designed to improve student success through innovation and refinement of transfer practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with key external partners on student success projects that have transfer student components and serve as the university representative on transfer for these endeavors (e.g., Education Attainment Network, CDHE).
  • Lead campus conversations related to innovations in the award of academic credit.
  • Partner with the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment to ensure effective recruiting strategies for targeting transfer students aligns with university transfer goals.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Recruitment (Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director) to stay current on transfer policies, transfer pathway agreements, and the transfer credit process, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Review and revise transfer practices and policies that produce inequitable student outcomes.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data that informs the way that transfer practices, university procedures, and policies impact student success and use this data to inform strategies for improvement.
  • Partner with the Office of the Registrar to ensure that Transferology (transfer equivalency tool) is easy to use, up to date, and highly visible to students to make it easy for them to understand transferability and degree applicability.
  • Ensure that Transfer Guides are updated and are easily available for students and advisors on the university web site.
  • Collaborate with New Student Orientation and First-Year Experiences to support the transition of transfer students as they develop a sense of belonging at CU Denver.
  • Serve as the liaison and steward of the strategy and collaborative efforts for our New Skills Ready Initiative. 

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $81,673- $87,000.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
  • A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field.

·       Substitution: A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.


Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Five (5) years in education, or a directly related field with specific instances of:
    • Experience in a community college setting.
    • Experience working with state agencies and responding to legislation.
    • Experience with program or project evaluation.
    • Experience successfully collaborating with department, school and/or campus leadership with competing priorities.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks requiring high collaboration.
