PROGRAM DIRECTOR: MOBILE UNIT

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Program Director II. The Program Director II will report directly to the Director of Operations for the Risk Underlying Rural Areas Longitudinal Study (RURAL) project. This position will occur within the RURAL southeastern US. The ability to travel and work in remote states for long periods is mandatory, and one is expected to travel 90% of the time. (Locations: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky) The incumbent will be responsible for a mobile examination unit's overall operation and success. This includes assistance with logistics, planning, staff management, inventory control, and quality of data collection. The position will enthusiastically work with a multidisciplinary scientific team from across the country and ensure ongoing staff and participant safety protocols.

Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

  • 50%: Independently monitor and oversee daily operations of the mobile examination unit
  • 20%: Ensure adherence to core values and standard operating procedures of the mobile exam unit (Safety, Confidentiality, Courtesy, Efficiency)
  • 10%: Monitor and oversee the inventory control process
  • 10%: To manage staff within the area, including all applicable human resources functions
  • 5%: Provide excellent customer service skills to participants, staff, community stakeholders, and a multidisciplinary team of scientist
  • 5%: Performs other duties as assigned

 

Salary Range: $73,945 - $120,165.00

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nursing, or a related field and five (5) years of related experience. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must undergo training and certification from UAB Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Biosafety Courses regarding the safe management, handling, disposing, and shipping of blood and body fluids within two (2) weeks of hire.
