Job Summary

This will be an international position, based in Bangalore, India, and employed by Harvard Global Research Support Center, India -- an affiliate of Harvard University or by another affiliate of Harvard University.

ScienceSpur is a brand-new program, consisting of a team of high-quality postdocs and investigators, assembled to teach sciences for qualified students in India, and in a more personalized, customized way than has been traditionally done for some student demographics in India. The courses are run in India, but most faculty are in Cambridge, MA. The program Director will be the person on the ground in India, communicating with the students and working with all the lecturers.

Program Director a key position for the teaching programs that ScienSpur has planned to roll out. The person hired for this position will be the key point of contact for course instructors, students attending the courses and will work in liaison with the program director at FAS. The incumbent will bring in experience in managing undergraduate level science teaching programs from applications receiving, screening to course completion and provide expert guidance in effectively conducting these teaching programs.


Job-Specific Responsibilities

Develop the criterion for preliminary screening of the applications from hundreds of students for the Scienspur courses.

Develop and implement the project outreach, design application, Schedule and manage course classes and merit review of the applicants on Harvard CARAT, an online application management system. Create and maintain public colleges contact list database.

Create and issue the course completion certificates to the students and certificates of appreciation to the mentors. Reports on the completion of the courses after each semester.Critical review of the content including official documents, grant applications and budget, and is responsible for logistics in course scheduling, project planning and creates guidelines for reviewing scorecards and designing the strategy.

Designs separate feedback forms to obtain feedback on the courses from students and mentors. Coordinate with the mentors/instructors to ensure smooth scheduling of the classes in the courses and the required material for the classes.

Serves as the point of contact locally for the project Scienspur, during the first year of operations.


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
