Job Description

The Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) at the Woods College of Advancing Studies (WCAS).

The Program Director is responsible for ongoing curriculum and program development as well as implementation, recruiting and retaining qualified students, recruiting new faculty and advisory board members, and tracking, assessing, and reporting on student progress and the program’s outcomes.

1.    Oversees the MHA curriculum:
·       Constantly evaluates the program curriculum and proposes changes in program structure and content based on industry needs, requiring monitoring of many disciplines related to health care.
·       Oversees creation and maintenance of courses for online offerings.
·       Coordinates course review and approval processes working with the Woods EPC.
·       Sets each semester's course schedule
2.    Connect with external professionals and industry to ensure viability and continual enhancements to manage career-relevant curriculum
·       Lead and manage MHA Program Advisory Board

3.    Develop and Implement program events to build community and program value.

4.    Manages the program’s Part Time Adjunct Faculty (PTF):
·       Identifies, recruits, and nominates PTF members.
·       Coordinates review, selection, and hiring processes.
·       Assigns PTF to teach courses.
·       Assesses performance, provides feedback and guidance, and coordinates performance improvement plans.
·       Ensures PTF receive the appropriate training from CDIL(Center for Digital Innovation in Learning)  prior to designing or teaching a course.

5.    Participates in program admissions processes, including serving on the Admissions Committee. Responsible for creating appropriate admissions standards.

6.    Actively collaborate with the Online Program Management (OPM) staff and/or the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management on program marketing, advertising, outreach and recruiting efforts. Creates program-related content that can be used for marketing. Engages in the recruiting of new students. Represents the program at relevant professional meetings and conferences.

7.    Works with the program advisor to ensure they are aware of all program requirements and prerequisites, particularly as the curriculum evolves.

8.    Serves on Woods College and Boston College committees and task forces as assigned.

Requirements

A terminal degree is highly desired but not required in an appropriate discipline relative to health administration (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) with experience in teaching, advising, and graduate program development and oversight.  In addition, the position would require the candidate to possess the following skills and experience:

·       Strong communication, collaboration, and consensus-building skills.
·       Involvement with relevant professional, government, and/or industry associations and agencies, and a record of developing strategic partnerships with critical external organizations.
·       Ability to tactfully and effectively respond to and handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations, conflicts, and problems involving diverse personalities.
·       Demonstrable problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
·       Record of creating and implementing educational programs.
Successful teaching experience, preferably online highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will possess at least five (5) years of experience in academic program development, teaching, and administration; experience in online education; and, preferably, industry experience in positions related to health administration, with increasing breadth and level of management responsibility.
