Work Schedule:
• Student Monitoring & Assisting to class (8:00am-10:00am)
• Staff Planning & Setup: (2:00-3:00 p.m.)
• Workshops: Monday through Friday (3:15 p.m.-4:15 p.m.)
• Study Hall Monday through Friday (4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)
• Evening activities (7-9:00 p.m.)
• Flexibility in coming in earlier and leaving later, as needed
• Punctuality expected at all meetings, classes, and events

Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary:
STOVS-Program Overnight Counselor
Performs a variety of skilled duties to provide student support and assistance with the goal of creating a safe, welcoming, and comfortable student learning environment.
80% Student support
• Provide assistance to students after class
• Coordinate student activities and preparation for STOVS
• Assist students in study hall through one-on-one mentoring (Mon-Fri afternoons between 4:30-6:30 p.m.)
• Meet with students to discuss goal-setting, healthy habits, and academic confidence
• Assist with evening social and learning activities to maximize student engagement
• Offer support to students who are struggling with coursework, or who need assistance with their acclimation to Villanova
20% Program planning and feedback
• Attend and participate in planning and feedback meetings
• Provide updates to STOVS director and professors regarding student concerns and needs
• Be available for student questions and concerns via email throughout the program
Requirements:
• Advanced knowledge of student development theory
• Ability to provide supportive and constructive feedback to students
• Excellent interpersonal skills to relate easily & effectively with students and staff
• Knowledge of issues of difference in higher education, particularly educational equity
• Proven ability to use MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
• Possess traits of good judgment and maturity that align with the University’s mission
• Will be required to work evenings throughout the duration of the program
• Employment subject to satisfactory background check
