This position may be eligible for Hybrid Work, working remotely for up to two days per week after the initial 90 days of employment.

Salary Range: $47,731/year or higher, commensurate with experience and/or education

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the University’s Teacher Mentorship Program (UTMP). UTMP is an academic intervention for the recruitment, graduation, and employment of teachers for Houston area school districts that need qualified teachers. The Program Coordinator works closely with faculty, staff, administrators, and students to provide operational and administrative support to a program both in the College of Public Service (and specifically the Urban Education department) as well as the University. The Program Coordinator coordinates programs to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. As such, the UTMP Coordinator will help teacher education students successfully enroll in tuition assistance through loan forgiveness and scholarship programs. On rare occasions, the coordinator will help with fundraising efforts. Moreover, the Program Coordinator assists with recruitment, marketing, partnership development, program accreditation, organizational relationships, and event programming in order to increase the number, persistence, graduation rates, and career trajectory of minority men in education. 

JOB SUMMARY  

The Program Coordinator provides operational and administrative oversight to a program in the University. The Program Coordinator administers programs to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. The Program Coordinator coordinates functions related to recruitment, marketing, partnerships, program accreditation, strengthening relationships, event programming and in some cases fundraising.

DUTIES 

  • Collaborates with departments, community advisors, partners, and stakeholders on program activities
  • Plans and manages daily office operations, including the coordination and oversight of staff/student employees
  • Prepares business documents in accordance with university and departmental standards, including, but not limited to, purchase vouchers, requisitions, travel reimbursements, personnel actions, timesheets, or cash deposits as required by department
  • Establishes and maintains program records, reports, presentations and proposals, policies, procedures etc
  • Monitors/oversees the program budget to include various types of accounts/funds and coordinates contracts and various financial processes
  • Manages recruitment for the program, and registration processes, and coordinates information packets
  • Develops metrics and analytical data for program activity, reviews and analyzes the data, and submits reports
  • Performs other duties that are unique to specific departments/program

MARGINAL DUTIES 

  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • May need to stay abreast of governmental and other local agencies guidelines that may impact program activities
  • May be required to work outside normal business hours
  • May provide support to faculty
  • May interact with other departments to promote the goals and objectives of the program
  • May perform web design and post social media announcements
  • May ensures program objectives such as program accreditation are carried out and maintains program by-laws
  • May require travel
