Position Highlights

This position tracks grant and contract deliverables and coordinates basic elements of the implementation of the Family Engagement Program. The incumbent will also assist the Agent in generating funding for the program through grants and contracts. They will also work closely with the Pima County Cooperative Extension (PCCE) administrative team to evaluate and report budgeting needs and obligations to the agent. They will also be responsible for supervising AmeriCorps members.

This position delivers classes to parents and caregivers to help them improve parenting, child behavior management, and financial literacy. The incumbent will be responsible for becoming familiar with all aspects of FEP and trained in specific family engagement curricula. This position will report to the Family, Consumer and Health Sciences Agent who leads the Family Engagement Program.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Coordinates program components.

  • Monitors budgets and works with the PCCE Admin team to ensure funds are spent according to plan and adjusted as necessary
  • Works with instructors to schedule classes 
  • Develops registration and outreach materials
  • Arranges childcare and food if assistance is needed
  • Ensures staff input attendance and collect evaluation tools
  • Ensures data collection tools are entered into electronic databases
  • Monitors progress of program delivery towards established goals
  • Communicates with business office to ensure FEP follows UA financial policies and procedures in a timely manner

2. Facilitates community education.

  • Teaches classes to the community on topics that could include brain development, child behavior management, or financial literacy.
  • Schedule classes with community partners
  • Set up, deliver and break down classes
  • Arrange for food and other supplies to provide to families
  • Make referrals for families to community partners
  • Communicate with childcare providers when necessary
  • Help program meet goals established by funders

3. Contributes to Family Engagement Program Team.

  • Provides onboarding to new staff and childcare
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Contribute to improved efficiency of team using technological advances and organizational strategies
  • Submit paperwork for travel and expenses
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on program goals and quality improvements

4. Represents Family Engagement Program in the community.

  • Develops partnerships to increase outreach and visibility of FEP
  • Share program goals with community partners
  • Identify new sites and populations for program delivery
  • Help fill gaps in service delivery for parents in Pima County

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to deliver classes in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Skill in tracking budgets and expenses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in teaching information to groups of adults and children.
  • Knowledge of parent education and child development.
  • Knowledge of basic elements of grant funded programming.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .
  • 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience serving as a primary caregiver of children is also strongly preferred.
  • Certification in various parent education curricula such as Triple P is a bonus.
