What We Want
This Program Coordinator I is responsible for coordinating and assisting the College of Arts & Sciences faculty, the Assistant Director of Outreach (primary supervisor) and the Director of Academic Operations (secondary supervisor). The selected candidate will assist in the coordinating of existing outreach events; planning of new outreach activities; developing and implementing new programs to increase prospective student interest in majors offered by the College; participating in activities designed to increase the diversity of the student population in the College; and the promoting of majors and programs offered by the College. What You Need To Know
Salary: $36,512.00 to $46,924.80
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of program support and coordination experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements:
Will be required to work during some weekends.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of related experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
College Promotion Activities Off Campus - Assists with the promotion of majors and programs offered by the College at high schools and community colleges throughout Texas. Attends relevant state and national conferences to promote outreach events and College majors and programs. Will travel up to 35% of time to carry out these activities.
Program Coordination Activities - Plans, implements, and provides support for the planning stages of all outreach events including: Aggieland Saturday, Expanding Your Horizons, Texas Junior Science & Humanities Symposium, Texas Science Olympiad, prospective student/family visits, high school visits, etc. Schedules student and family meetings and visits.
Outreach Activities - Plans, implements, and provides support during all outreach-related events for the College, both on and off campus. Assists the Director of Outreach in the creation and implementation of outreach activities associated with academic departments in the College of Arts & Sciences. Works with the Associate Dean for Assessment to develop and implement best practices to evaluate the effectiveness of the activities.
College Promotion Activities On Campus - Represents the College in programs and committees related to prospective students. Initiates proposals to support the promotion of majors and other student programs in the college. Conducts and coordinates informational activities under the direction of the Director of Academic Operations. Advises prospective students in areas concerning the College of Arts and Sciences admission criteria.
Student Diversity - Implements strategies for increasing the diversity of students in the College. Assists in the execution of specific programs to ensure the marketing, selection and enrollment of students who are under-represented and/or disadvantaged.
