Position Highlights The Take Charge America Institute is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to oversee daily operations of the Take Charge Cats Program. This position will work closely with the TCAI Director to offer outstanding near-peer financial education workshops and other educational programing to the Tucson and University communities.

The Take Charge Cats Program trains undergraduate student ambassadors to deliver free interactive financial education workshops to high school, middle school and college aged students throughout Tucson. In addition to workshops, the program coordinates an all-day capstone financial competition every April.

This role requires a self-directed, detail-oriented individual with outstanding organizational skills and a commitment to promoting financial literacy. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring students, working on a team, and thinking creatively about achieving program goals. This job requires availability on Monday evenings to attend a weekly team scheduling meeting and occasional weekend hours.

Duties & Responsibilities

Administrative:

  • Coordinate with school teachers, university faculty, advisers and community liaisons to schedule Take Charge Cats workshops throughout the year.
  • Oversee training, lesson preparation, workshop scheduling with Take Charge Cats team at weekly team meetings.
  • Handle last minute workshop scheduling issues on an as needed basis.
  • Collect data related to program outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Organize and maintain program files, forms, supplies and workshop materials.
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries.
  • In coordination with TCAI Director, manage event and workshop related purchases and travel reimbursements.
  • Track student driving forms to ensure compliance with all risk management policies.
  • Oversee updating of program websites, Facebook accounts and other social media platforms.
  • Oversee creation and distribution of e-newsletter.
  • Work with TCAI Director to create annual report.
  • Monitor expenditures to stay within program and event budgets.

Supervisory:

  • Recruit and retain Take Charge Cats student ambassadors.
  • Coordinate and deliver training program for Take Charge Cats team.
  • Conduct ongoing student ambassador evaluations to ensure high quality workshop delivery and exemplary job performance.
  • Implement team building activities to foster positive morale within Take Charge Cats Team.
  • Track and approve student time logs.
  • Supervise student leaders within team to perform tasks as assigned.

Program development:

  • Maintain existing school/teacher partnerships and work to develop new relationships in local schools and youth organizations.
  • Work with TCAI Director to develop new on-campus partnerships to expand Take Charge Cats presence at the UA.
  • Work with TCAI Director to plan and execute all aspects of the Arizona Financial Face-off competition each spring.
  • Think creatively about program goals to improve outcomes and effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of personal finance topics.
  • Demonstrated commitment to education.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner in-person and via email/phone with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize program tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in area of financial literacy education or related field required.
  • Experience supervising student workers or similar part-time employees and coordinating and scheduling program activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing new relationships and partnerships.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with program evaluation and data management.
  • Experience with marketing or recruitment.
  • Experience working on a team and with diverse audiences.
  • Experience with event planning and coordination
