Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Newark Screening Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. 
The primary purpose of the Program Coordinator is to work in collaboration with Program Manager and Director, Acute Emergency Services, functions as a member of the clinical and administrative leadership team in the Newark Screening program. Primarily responsible for providing supervision to multidisciplinary staff. Ensures compliance with all regulations.   
 Among the key duties of this position are the following: 

• Supervises staff on a daily basis for an assigned shift, providing administrative and clinical direction. 
• Maintains confidentiality of information; recognizes and respects limits of authority and responsibility. 
• In conjunction with the Program Manager, monitors staff performance and at minimum, on a bi-annual basis, meets individually with assigned staff to review performance goals, and compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements. 
• Provides clinical/administration coverage of the unit daily operations for assigned shift. 
• Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that respects and enhances the individual, their expressed choices and preferences, and that enhances the positive self-image of consumer/patients and staff as observed by supervisor. 
• Develops programming to ensure integration of Evidence Based Best Practices under direction of the Director and Program Manager. 
• Maintains client satisfaction level of the office in the area of client-staff interaction at or above the benchmark level of the Mental Health Corporations of America standard. 
• Monitors staff compliance with all documentation requirements on a consistent basis via documentation reports.   
• As required by individual program, assumes direct care responsibilities for consumer/patients and provides individual, group, family supportive counseling, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and case management services as clinically indicated 

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Master's Degree in a related mental health field and four (4) years of postgraduate experience in related community mental health and/or case management work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to walk throughout the day, stand for extended periods of time, and focus on assigned tasks in a hectic noisy environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Varied work settings include office and community setting. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. May be exposed to clients exhibiting assaultive or aggressive behaviors. Generally pleasant working conditions in a clean, well-lighted, and quiet to moderately loud setting.
