Position Description:

The Program Coordinator's primary responsibility is to serve as an instructor for REACH's GEN 103/104: Special Topics in College Mathematics intervention courses (an estimated 8 sections per academic year). Additionally, this person assists with managing the GEN 103/104 classroom (EML). Moreover, the position assists with the interviewing, training, monitoring, and evaluation of both undergraduate and graduate student employees who staff the Math Resource Center (MRC) and the EML. Performs data collection needed to prepare department reports on the efficacy of all programs and services related to MRC programs and courses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with the instruction of the college readiness course, Special Topics in College Mathematics (GEN 103/104). Teaches an estimated eight sections of GEN 103/104 per academic year. Conducts class sessions, tracks student attendance, supervises tutors working with students during these sessions, reviews individual students' testing and progress records. May conduct individual conferences and/or communicate with students outside of scheduled class times to encourage their academic success.
  • Assists with the management and support for the REACH classroom. This includes helping with interviews, training, supervising, and evaluating graduate and undergraduate student employees. Helps the GEN 103/104 coordinator with the staffing of the classroom and serves as a tutor when necessary. Assists with developing and revising course materials. Assists with data collection for the statistical reports demonstrating the effectiveness of the GEN 103 and GEN 104 courses.
  • Provides support for all MRC summer bridge programs. Assist in the planning, instruction, and operations of summer bridge programs in mathematics conducted by REACH.
  • Assists in the general planning of instructional services for REACH Math Resources. Attends GEN 103/104 weekly staff meetings and Instructional Team meetings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate will also possess supervisory experience of college students.
  • The ideal candidate must possess the equivalent of 1 year of teaching of mathematics in college or in secondary education (high school), tutoring of mathematics in college or high school and or any instructional work in the teaching/tutoring of mathematics to college-age or pre-college age students, for example, summer bridge programs for college readiness or college preparatory programs.
