About the Department

University of Cincinnati Libraries, Health Sciences Library:

 

The Health Sciences Library offers educational services and robust collections to support teaching and learning at the Academic Health Center. The HSL provides a broad range of services from reference and research consultation to class instruction to requesting articles or borrowing materials through an Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery service.

 

College of Medicine/Office of Medical Education:

 

The Office of Medical Education serves the educational needs of over 700 medical students, providing central coordination of the curriculum and ensuring that all operational matters of the MD program are compliant with accreditation standards outlined by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The College of Medicine is part of the Academic Health Center and also serves undergraduate and graduate students as well as resident.


Job Overview

This position opens the Health Sciences Library circulation desk weekdays at 7:45AM and reports to the Director, Health Sciences Library.


Essential Functions
  • Open the Health Sciences Library circulation desk weekdays at 7:45AM
  • Train student staff on circulation desk responsibilities
  • Provide circulation assistance and provide basic to intermediate reference 
  • Manage circulation desk processes such as OHIOLINK consortium requests, assure timely completion of Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery requests
  • Manage room reservations and/or key access requests 
  • Support Interlibrary Loan material shipping and receiving 
  • Support Technical Services tasks (e.g. searching, adding item holdings to serial records, editing records)
  • Develop and maintain library informational signage and departmental voice mail messages
  • Manage corporate memberships for library services
  • Maintain departmental supply inventory

Required Education

Bachelor's degree OR three (3) years of relevant work experiences or other specialized training.


Required Experience

 Three (3) years of customer service experience.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
