PROGRAM COORDINATOR, LEARNING INNOVATORS MIDDLE EAST, Media Laboratory-ML Learning Initiative,  to provide overall project management and coordination for all aspects of the Learning Innovators Middle East project.  Will lead the development of a comprehensive curriculum for the online learning phase of the project and commission the development of missing content/courses; design and implement an outreach and recruitment campaign; oversee development of a project website; establish a mentor network; coordinate the design and implementation of a face-to-face workshop, identifying a local partner organization, developing curriculum, and recruiting instructors; coordinate with other efforts in the space of refugee education and online learning in the Middle East and develop new partnerships; provide overall communication about the project through reports, blog posts, and talks.

The Syrian refugee crisis affects hundreds of thousands of students who are unable to continue their higher education programs. Learning Innovators Middle East is a capacity building program that will train hundreds of young software developers in the Middle East to develop learning technology that directly benefits refugee education, with a particular focus on higher education. The program will offer a series of online courses, followed by a face-to-face workshop in Lebanon or Jordan and a prototyping fund that supports development of promising applications.

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; minimum of four years’ work experience; expertise in the area of higher education for refugees, in particular, efforts supporting Syrian refugees in the Middle East; experience coordinating multistakeholder initiatives, including event management; excellent communication skills; advanced proficiency with office productivity software; and expertise or strong interest in using technology to support learning communities.  Arabic language skills a plus.  Job #14594

Must be able to travel both within the U.S. and internationally, including extended trips to the Middle East, including Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey.
