Position Description

The Student Success Center (SSC) seeks a Program Coordinator whose primary responsibility will be to execute student success-related strategic communication efforts to support outreach and program marketing for the SSC at large, as well as the First Year Experience & Programs team more directly. University of Louisville's SSC delivers programming and services to help undergraduate students successfully transition into and through UofL, offers student success coaching that proactively helps students navigate any roadblock they encounter on their path to graduation, advises exploratory and transition students, and coordinates first-generation student services.

The Program Coordinator supports the operations of the SSC with communications-focused responsibilities including design and marketing for the SSC's programs and events, executing SSC outreach and communications, managing the SSC website and social media accounts, and leading the Raise Some L fundraising campaign for the SSC. The Program Coordinator will assist with the graphic design for university-wide first-year academic orientation course materials and will instruct a section of the SSC's first-year experience course.  

In addition, this individual coordinates program logistics and communications for the READY Mentor program for first-generation college students. They will support implementation of SSC programming and assessment as needed. This individual serves as a backup to the front desk and student assistant supervisor. They also represent the SSC as needed for student success initiatives and speaking engagements with university offices and student groups, including New Student Orientation in the summer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute Student Success Center communication and promotion efforts, including creating developmentally-appropriate content and design for print and online communication materials (including SSC websites, social media accounts, and university app) and promotional materials. Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Marketing and other partners.
  • Support New Cards Navigator, Compass Planner and other First Year Experience curriculum updates by making identified changes within the content delivery technologies, including the university's learning management system for academic orientation courses and module development platforms.
  • Implement SSC outreach campaigns including email, text, and postal mailings.
  • Coordinate applications, onboarding and scheduling logistics, and serve as the primary contact for students and mentors participating in the READY Mentoring program.
  • Instruct the Student Success Center's first-year academic orientation course for exploratory and transition students.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Student Success Center's development efforts for UofL's annual day of giving, from engagement strategy to day-of execution.
  • Assist the SSC's programming staff in implementation and evaluation of Student Success Center events and programs which promote retention and persistence as students transition to and move through the university.
  • Serve as a backup front desk assistant and student assistant supervisor, covering the SSC front desk, answering calls, and supporting the student assistants.
  • Support targeted outreach efforts from the SSC as needed by contacting students directly.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities focused on improving student success to enhance knowledge and expand effectiveness in this role.
