Job Overview

Coordinate outreach programs including but not limited to GE Next Engineers. The GE Next Engineers program is developing the next generation of engineers by inspiring youth ages 13-18 to pursue engineering studies after high school graduation. Next Engineers is funded by GE Foundation, globally managed by FHI 360, and implemented in Cincinnati through the University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Office of Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement. GE Aviation, located in the Cincinnati area, partners with the Next Engineers Cincinnati to provide employees as program volunteers. Essential Functions
  • Plan, design, modify and coordinate programs for community-based STEM initiatives including but not limited to GE Next Engineers. 
  • Design/create and conduct seminars, classes, workshops or programs.
  • Develop program objectives and monitor quantitative and qualitative data on progress toward objectives. Review objectives to identify problems and solutions, prioritize solutions and develop action steps for program improvement.
  • Research and analyze relevant literature, other benchmark information in order to develop grant proposals, new program ideas and propose program changes.
  • Develop, administer and analyze assessment/evaluation questionnaires. Compile statistics and prepare reports.
  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy in order to recruit students and program participants.
  • Interact with staff faculty, external agencies and other university departments.
  • May provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Maintain strong working relationships with GE Aviation Next Engineers City Team, FHI 360, and Cincinnati area high schools and community organizations to implement Next Engineers Cincinnati project and meet project deliverables. 
  • In collaboration with University of Cincinnati staff, provide fiscal oversight and financial management for the project aligned with University of Cincinnati and FHI 360 requirements. 

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of program coordination experience.

  • Familiarity with asset-based and/or social impact design approaches to community and experience and success working in partnership with local residents and community organizations development, volunteerism, corporate philanthropy and tutoring/mentoring.
  • Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, delegate, and to create systems and processes.
  • Excellent knowledge, skills and abilities in data analysis and insight generation, translation of complex issues into actionable efforts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally.
  • Solid relationship management skills enhancing internal organizational relations and external community interactions.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers.
