What We Want

Are you looking for a role within one of largest student-centered units of our university? Consider our Coordinator of Residential Assessment and Research position where you can lead the Department of Residence Life in assessment and strategic planning efforts. What You Need to Know

Salary: $45,000 - $52,000.00/annually (Based on selected hire’s experience.)

Position Details: May require evening and weekend work.  May be required to assist with summer camp/conference operations during summer months.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Four years’ experience in student affairs work or related specialty area with a bachelor’s degree.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to effectively work with all persons to create an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Knowledge of formal academic research methods.

  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, statistics, or related area preferred.

  • Experience working with large quantitative data sets.

  • Experience presenting assessment data to stakeholders.

  • Experience analyzing data and information.

  • Experience with institutionally approved research projects.

  • At least two years full-time work experience in higher education.

  • At least one-year full-time work experience conducting assessment or research in higher education.

  • Experience working with on campus student housing. 

Responsibilities

  • Administrative/Leadership - Serves as a point of contact for stakeholders Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders regarding data and information collected through research and assessment efforts. Provides data and information to department stakeholders and is responsible for reporting data and analysis information on behalf of the Department of Residence Life. Supports the mission of the university, division, and department through assessment, research and strategic planning. Assists in establishing short and long term goals and strategic planning for the department.  Contributes to reports, presentations, trainings, and other informational measures to help illustrate the contributions of the department to student success and support. Coordinates logistics of Department-wide assessment reporting process. Promotes internal and external communication of assessment results. Interprets assessment findings and prepares an annual assessment report to summarize such findings. Leads Strategic Planning process for the department in conjunction with the Associate Director and Executive Director.  Contributes to strategic planning initiatives as needed. Participates in the annual departmental budgeting process as required by supervisor. Chairs the departmental assessment committee. Completes the departmental Annual Report as required by the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs. Is responsible for the completion of the department’s 12th class day census reporting efforts. Compiles and manages all departmental assessment data. Maintains and updates departmental outcome achievement in the AEFIS system as required by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Evaluation. Completes assessments, research projects, and/or data analysis projects at the discretion of the Executive Director or supervisor.

  • Assessment - Is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the implementation of departmental assessment efforts and data collection. Leads the Department in assessment efforts. Coordinates the annual assessment plan in conjunction with departmental leadership. Tracks the status and progress of all assessment projects in Department of Residence Life. Coordinates and plans all assessment processes for the department, including but not limited to: assessment projects conducted by Community Directors or Apartment Managers, First Year Experience (FYE), High Impact Practices, Department Student Organizations, etc. Annually assesses all departmental High Impact Practices recognized by the Division of Student Affairs. Conducts the ACUHO-I EBI survey on an as needed basis. Analyzes and shares data relating to student retention, graduation, and grades.

  • Research - Chairs the Department of Residence Life Assessment Committee. Leads the development of a departmental research agenda. Serves as the point of contact and liaison with non-department entities research efforts with on-campus students. Serves as the point person for IRB approval for department sponsored research efforts.

  • Collaboration - Serves as a liaison with Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research department within the Division of Student Affairs. Partners with the Office of Institutional Evaluation and Effectiveness as needed to complete departmental projects. Works with staff and student leaders developing High Impact Practices to assess success and tailor opportunities. Works with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the completion of research and assessment initiatives which illustrate the values of living on campus. Serves as a resource to other department staff to facilitate, plan, implement, and complete assessment projects across the department. Collaborates with internal and external constituents in the creation, implementation, analysis, and sharing of assessment results relevant to the department. Offers training and development regarding assessment to department staff as needed. Serves as the departmental contact for academic course projects that focus on residential students.

  • Development - Serves on Division Student Learning Committee and Division Assessment Committee. Advances the philosophy of multiculturalism and actively promotes diversity in staffing, and programming. Ensures contribution to goals set forth in Vision 20/20, the Academic Master Plan, and the University Diversity Plan. Serves on department, division and university committees/task forces. Performs other duties as assigned.
