The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management (KNSM) is one of the largest academic departments at Texas A&M University.  As one of four departments in the School of Education & Human Development, KNSM is currently home to over 1468 undergraduate students, 175 master’s students, 57 doctoral students (1700 total), and 87 funded graduate assistants. KNSM  is an active member of the American Kinesiology Association  (AKA). The department joins in the efforts of the AKA to promote the discipline of Kinesiology as a field of study and to highlight its applications that affect all through research to enhance people's health. The Program Coordinator II, under general supervision, works collaboratively with leadership and MarComm to plan, develop, and implement the Texas A&M Handball program. This position is responsible for the coordination of club operations and logistics, assisting in growth strategy, and the development of education and outreach materials.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years in logistics, program coordination, administration, or closely related experience, as well as some experience in handball

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications
  • Knowledge of handball rules and regulations at the college, national, and international level
  • Must be able to travel with handball team to tournaments and work outside of normal business hours including nights and weekends occasionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years' experience in logistics and operations of handball clubs and tournaments.
  • Experience with Texas A&M University.
  • Experience developing Handball specific educational materials.
  • Knowledge of preparing, assembling, and operating specialized AV equipment for filming of handball, particularly in action. 
  • Knowledge of communications strategy including social media and branding.
  • Ability to take specialized and technical handball knowledge and disseminate it to laypeople.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

  • Logistics and Operations - Plans and develops Texas A&M Handball Program logistics and operations. Implements program mission and helps build strategy to support program growth. Coordinates uniforms and equipment for participants. Ensure maintenance of program equipment and supplies. Plans, schedules, and implements handball tournaments, programs, and special events. Supervise, direct, and coordinate volunteers for handball tournaments. Ensure compliance with all relevant handball rules and regulations in the national and international federations. Prepares tournament reports. Evaluates handball program efficacy and functionality. Coordinates travel to tournaments to include, meals, lodging, transportation, and scheduling. Work closely with office staff in the promotion and supervision of program activities and special events. Oversees daily fiscal and purchasing activities.
  • Communications Strategy - Collaborates with MarComm to develop and implement an overall communications strategy for the Texas A&M Handball program, that promotes the growth and outreach of the program. Serves as program liaison to MarComm team and helps develop marketing materials including all program and departmental webpages and social media. Develops and ensures website content is current, accessible, and in alignment with the program mission. Use specialized audio/visual equipment to film or capture handball action without disrupting play. Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings and coordinates program communications and promotion of program with school and community partnerships
  • Education & Outreach and Professional Development - Attend conferences and tournaments in an outreach capacity to educate about the sport of handball. Works with internal and external stakeholders to develop relevant training materials, policies and procedures to assist with growth and delivery of handball in the state of Texas and the US at large, extending the programming at Texas A&M to other clubs and universities. Promotes program growth at university, high school, and club events by educating potential participants about the sport of handball and handball programs at Texas A&M. Attends professional training for handball program.
