What we want

The Program Coordinator II P 11 is responsible for coordinating and assisting in the implementation of public health programs within the USA Center. The individual in this position works with elected officials, practitioners, scholars, technologists, and subject-matter professionals from public health and rural communities to coordinate and assist in the refinement of the USA Center programs

Other Factors: Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. of Public Safety, Workplace Safety, and Homeland Security related technologies. Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Four years of experience in program management or other related areas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled at proposal and budget development, contract development

  • Skilled at coordinating and collaborating with Subject Matter Professionals across industry and academia as needed to develop and implement tailored technical services

  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentations

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff

  • Knowledge of basic office software and instructional programs

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups

  •  Ability to facilitate groups of various sizes

  • Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies

  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning

Preferred Education:

  • Masters in Public Health (MPH) from an accredited college or university

Preferred Experience:

  • 5-years of recent experience in one or more of the following career fields: Military, Fire service, Law Enforcement, Heavy Rescue (i.e. Urban Search and Rescue), Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, Emergency Management, GIS)

  • 1-year of project management experience or Project Management Professional Certification (PMI PMP)

  • 2 years of relevant experience in program coordination, report writing and proposal development

Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination: Coordinates program communications and marketing. Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings. Plans and implements programs and assists in their evaluation. May develop and update training materials and deliver training sessions. Oversees daily operations of multiple individual projects. Under the direction of the Assistant Director, coordinates preparation of contract deliverables and participates in preparation of project reports.

  • Proposal development and research assistance: Maintains program records and databases. Compiles program statistics and assists in the coding and data entry of both qualitative and quantitative data. May assist in identifying funding opportunities. May assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events. As appropriate, participates in proposal development. Conducts literature reviews as required. Participates in manuscript preparation.

  • Administrative: Plans and implements OSP & GH and USA Center program activities such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings and workshops, including logistics and travel. May supervise program student workers or staff. daily fiscal and purchasing activities, and assists in preparation and monitoring of budgets for OSP&GH and USA Center programs and events.  Actively assists in the procurement of new and recurring funding opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned.
