The mission of the Center of Digital Humanities Research, (CoDHR) sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, is to foster multidisciplinary research and publications that employ computational methods in the study of literature, history, and culture.  Our aim is to garner international recognition for Texas A&M University through development of significant digital humanities research projects, both the Center’s own signature projects and vibrant faculty projects.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of program administration experience

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software programs
  • Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to plan and organize effectively
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Other Requirements or Other Factors

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with grant budgets, reporting, and proposal development
  • Experience with university disbursement policies
  • Experience planning and implementing administrative structures and procedures for a unit

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead, initiate, and collaborate when working with a team of faculty and students
  • Understanding of Texas A&M University and System policies and rules and how to perform within them
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills

Responsibilities:

  • Business and Budget Coordination - Monitoring of CoDHR budgets and grant budgets, including cost share subaccounts, for programs and events.  Liaises with college business office on budgetary matters, business transactions involving payment card purchases, travel card purchases, reimbursements, speakers and vendors services, contracts and payments.  Coordinates travel arrangements for guests using Concur, develops travel itineraries for visitors.  Serves as liaison between administrators, staff, guests, vendors, speakers, and college business office.  Creates and manages external business accounts using iPayments and MarketPlace.  Presents budget and administrative issues to the Center directors and staff for discussion and approval. 
  • Office Management - Serves as office manager; plans, organizes, implements, evaluates, and improves office operations; hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and develops student employees.  Provides administrative support; maintains calendar and schedules appointments.  Coordinates daily office operations for the Center; assists in resolving complex, highly sensitive and confidential administrative matters; applies, interprets, and communicates University policies and procedures and serves as a resource. Performs other related duties as required. 
  • Program Coordination Oversight - Programmatic Events - Coordinates CoDHR program operations; plans and implements program events, to include but not limited to conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops, meetings, symposia, webinars, and other special functions, including on site support (occasionally after hours or on weekends); collaborates with leadership to create new and expanded programs; assists in creating program goals and strategic planning; ensures that legal requirements of contracts, etc. are met, processes receivables, and assists with identifying funding opportunities, as well as marketing for products to increase the funding for the CoDHR. Liaises with presenters; liaises with college communications office on development of CoDHR’s calendars, event publicity, and other materials.  Participates in the development and implementation of programs, objectives, policy, and procedures for CoDHR.  Manages and advises on daily program operations and contributes in the creation and content of program reports.
  • Program Coordination Oversight - Technical - Creates and maintains websites including CoDHR, Programming for Humanists at TAMU (including course materials), and Digital Humanities Certificate Program using WordPress and Drupal software to promote CoDHR events, projects, and accomplishments. Directs helpdesk and provides support to faculty, staff and students using CoDHR platforms (Drupal) and the Humanities Visualization Space.
