The Program Coordinator II for Student Affairs in the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) at Texas A&M University at Qatar is responsible for coordinating and overseeing international programs, including study abroad, the Research Experience for Undergraduates exchange program and student travel compliance and tracking. Supports students wishing to live, or already live, in Qatar Foundation housing and residence life by assisting with the application process and working closely with Qatar Foundation staff regarding issues and concerns.  Responsible for the oversight and planning for all TAMUQ student athletics programs, advocating for student needs and serving on necessary committees within the University and Education City.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of experience in office administration or project management

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree
  • Four or more years of higher education experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of FERPA and previous experience working in a multicultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Study Abroad Programs - Designs and implements international learning opportunities. Manages the TAMU/TAMUQ reciprocal exchange study abroad program. Collaborates with Academic Advisors to ensure appropriate course offerings for study abroad participants. Develops and oversees project timelines to ensure timely coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) exchange program with TAMU. Conducts cultural orientations for students, including pre-departure and arrival cultural orientation workshops. Serves as the primary point of contact for local emergencies involving students traveling abroad and TAMU students in Qatar. Serves as a liaison with overseas offices and staff. Supervises a Graduate Intern.

  • Approve, Track and Coordinate Student Travel - Serves as a liaison to TAMUQ academic programs, the College of Engineering at TAMU, and Student Affairs for all student travel opportunities. Handles logistics for all TAMU student visitors to Qatar (including exchange programs, REU, co-curricular travel, conferences, field trips, capstone/senior design, etc.). Works with Department staff to assist students in the visa and permit processes for students traveling to or coming to Doha. Authorizes and approves all TAMUQ student travel. Manages student travel in Concur and other software programs as needed. Provides training to students, faculty, and staff to understand the student travel process and requirements

  • Coordinate Athletic/Recreational Programming - Serves as a point of contact for all TAMUQ athletics and recreational activities. Serves on Education City sports committee. Liaises with TAMUQ hired coaches. Coordinates the attendance of DSA staff members at TAMUQ athletics events. Coordinates sports team’s tryouts. Coordinates with Qatar Foundation for field reservations, practice times, league/game scheduling, etc. 

  • Communication, Marketing and Assessment - Coordinates communication, marketing, and recruitment efforts for study abroad, REU, athletics/recreation, and housing. Responds to student and faculty inquiries regarding study abroad, other international opportunities, athletics, and housing. Assesses student learning in international experiences. Assesses student participation and experiences in Qatar Foundation housing and residence life and athletic/recreational activities.

  • Coordinator for Student Housing - Serves as a TAMUQ liaison to Qatar Foundation housing and residence Life and a member of the Education City Housing Liaisons Committee. Assists students with the application process for living in Education City. Serves as a primary support for TAMUQ residential students. Triages student conduct cases reported in student housing. Prepares housing reports for TAMUQ and Qatar Foundation.

  • Other - Performs other duties as assigned.
