What we want

The Program Coordinator I, is responsible for providing diversity and inclusion initiatives and priorities related to the Mays Business School undergraduate student experience. The Coordinator will work in close partnership with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion Director to facilitate effective diversity and inclusion related programming and advising for targeted undergraduate student recruitment, retention, and success. The Coordinator will be fully responsible for serving as the chief advocate for the D&I programs and their students; developing and continuously refining program curriculum; planning, implementing and assessing all academic, leadership, and student success outcomes; recruiting new students into the programs, and promoting them to the college community to ensure strong visibility and sustainability. Salary Range: $36,512.00 - $46,924.80 (commensurate to selected hire’s experience).

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination for education and experience

  • Two years of program administration experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

  • Strong organizational, management, and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking

  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility for projects and development of services

  • Skills in independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with attention to detail

  • A very strong commitment to and thorough understanding of Diversity, Inclusive Excellence, and Equity in Higher Education

  • Ability to work with at-risk and culturally diverse populations

  • Sensitivity to, and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population, including but are not limited to first-generation, LGBTQ, students of color, women, etc.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or relevant discipline

  • Three years of direct work experience in coordinating, managing, and directing student diversity and inclusion, retention, and/or academic success programs

  • Three years of direct work experience in developing, planning, implementing, and assessing student recruitment, retention and/or academic support programs for students from historically underrepresented, underserved, and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups

  • Classroom teaching experience

  • Extensive experience in student recruitment, advising, and mentoring

  • Student engagement and case management experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Web Page design/management, Google Drive, and social media platforms

  • Knowledge of SLATE, Circuitree, and Qualtrics

  • Experience planning and coordinating domestic and international student trips

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment, Retention, and Student Success Programming - Provides creative, innovative, and effective hands-on leadership for the daily operation of student recruitment and retention programs including but not limited to: Regents’ Ambassadors Program, advising, peer academic support, Mays Transformational Leadership Academy (MTLA), and Leadership Initiative Conference (LINC). Develops and delivers classroom instruction for the Regents’ Ambassadors Program. Conducts student assessments and notifies students of their progress in the program. Develops retention and multicultural programs that support student success. Incorporates a case management approach to working with students in providing mentoring, job shadowing, seminars, workshops, student involvement programs, support groups, etc. Works with student leaders to design and implement programs, special events, and services that support student success and development. Advises students and student leaders on program planning methods and processes. Assists students with problem solving a variety of complex issues during all phases of an event. Teaches students program planning and mentors them throughout the year. Develops and updates program-training materials and delivers training sessions.

  • Diversity and Inclusion Programs/Initiatives - Provides oversight and coordination of the day-to-day operation of D&I programs/initiatives. Coordinates the delivery of D&I program information and assistance to students seeking support. Plans and implements program events such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops. Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings. Coordinates program communications and marketing. Supports Mays’ Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s “Return on Inclusion” (ROI) program. Maintains relationships with sponsoring companies to ensure effective execution of sponsored ROI programs. Communicates and promotes career opportunities to undergraduates through ROI. May serve as an advisor to student organizations including but not limited to the Association of Latino Professionals for America and Black Wall Street.

  • Administrative, Assessment, and Reporting - Administers multiple program budgets; prepares cost estimates, budget recommendations, and monitors budget expenditures. Plans and implements programs and assists in their evaluation. Compiles program statistics and generates reports. Maintains program records and databases.

  • Supervision - Supervises student staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
