The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Program Coordinator to serve as a member of the Office of Professional Development. The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, is responsible for coordinating the planning, development, and implementation of the staff professional development program for the School of Medicine. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of program coordination experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years of related experience in event/workshop planning and implementation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in related field

  • Three plus years of related experience; experience with observing instruction and providing feedback

Responsibilities:

  • Program Events/Marketing - Plan and help implement program events, such as workshops, for staff professional development and assist in the evaluation of the programs. Coordinates communication and marketing for staff professional development opportunities in conjunction with MarComm. Participate in appropriate School of Medicine committees and activities to gain a better understanding of the educational process and interact with faculty and staff. May assist in identifying funding opportunities. Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings.

  • Staff Development - Plan, develop and deliver professional development resources for staff including, but not limited to, resources on developing leadership and mentoring skills.

  • Faculty Development  - Conduct observations of faculty and provide feedback on their instruction. Assist with faculty development programming, such as workshops and online resources, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
