The Program Coordinator for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Outreach in the Office of Development, Engagement and Outreach at Texas A&M University at Qatar is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the planning, development and implementation of assigned programs. This position is NOT located in the United States. One must be willing to relocate to Doha, Qatar, or hold current resident permit, with the ability to work in Qatar.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years of related program coordination and/or program administrative experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field

  • Working experience with youth and ethnically diverse populations, outreach, engineering or higher education

  • Experience in administration of programs including planning, scheduling, and logistics

  • Experience in teaching, curriculum planning, or coordinating learning and/or lab activities

  • Experience in programming, robotics, or microcomputing

  • Experience in Arduino/Raspberry Pi, block-based visual programming, 3D CAD design, 3D printing, and standard workshop and makerspace tools

  • Previous experience working in a multicultural environment

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • STEM related design and engineering skills, such as 3D modeling, programming, microcomputers, basic mechanical and electrical engineering

  • Preferred knowledge of block-based visual programming, 3D CAD design, 3D printing, and basic tooling


  • STEM Outreach - Assists in the creation and maintenance of STEM guidebooks including a syllabus documenting content and activities of all STEM programs. Plans and coordinates with program facilitators to submit the program content and proposals regularly. Coordinates the STEM HUB lab and the STEM Road Show and serves as the primary focal point for logistics organization. Performs demonstrations of science and engineering as part of the traveling STEM Road Show in local schools. Assists in developing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enrichment activities and programs that extend Texas A&M at Qatar’s community engagement. Collaborates with faculty to assist in the development of innovative, novel and effective STEM outreach and academic enrichment initiatives designed to promote STEM studies among Qatari students and to increase matriculation of Qataris to Texas A&M University at Qatar’s engineering degree programs as part of the STEM HUB lab. Plans and coordinates logistics, including event planning and execution, of numerous academic enrichment programs, workshops and activity sessions. Works closely with the academic leadership team to assist in identifying, responding, and monitoring priorities for recruitment through STEM outreach and academic enrichment programming. Liaises with the Supreme Education Council to assist in establishing standards for content delivered via STEM enrichment programs and teacher professional development. Maintains records of academic paths of students who participate in STEM development programs; complies reports on efficacy of STEM development and outreach efforts.

  • Community Liaison - Provides assistance in the oversight of the visual identity of the lab and liaises with the lab’s sponsor, Qatar National Research Fund, on marketing and promotion of the lab. Serves as a liaison with schools and with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to coordinate for the school visits for the STEM programs and initiatives, including STEM Hub visiting hours. Promotes the services and the benefits of the STEM Lab to the community. Maintains and tracks a calendar of lab activities and visits to maximize utilization and optimize efficiency of the lab. Coordinates the process of proposal submissions related to the activities conducted in the STEM Lab from different Qatar Foundation centers and entities. Serves as a liaison with schools and with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to schedule the Road Show visits and to provide a mechanism for choosing the schools and the benefited targeted audience. Plans and coordinates the TAMUQ STEM ambassador program to promote the STEM initiatives and benefits among student groups inside and outside TAMUQ. Serves as a liaison between the Office of Development, Engagement and Outreach and the Qatar community. Works with external stakeholders and partners to positively position Texas A&M University at Qatar at external STEM enrichment events and outreach opportunities. Represents Texas A&M University at Qatar at national and regional STEM education events and activities. Cultivates relationships with principals, teachers and counselors at Qatar independent and international schools to assist in developing channels for identifying and recruiting Qatari students through STEM outreach programs. Interfaces with appropriate organizations, institutes and governmental units in Qatar and the GCC to assist  in identifying needs and opportunities for STEM outreach programs and teacher professional development initiatives. Supports other Outreach programs

  • Internal Coordination - Ensures compliance with TAMU, TAMUS and State of Texas regulations regarding campus programs for minors and lab visitors, through coordinating with the Office of the Dean, with Human Resources and with the Department of Student Activities in College Station. Liaises with TAMUQ employees who contribute to our STEM programs and ensure that they are going through the required trainings and license to work with minors and Lab Visitors. Collaborates with program chairs, faculty and lab staff to ensure adequate personnel are available to support STEM outreach programs and events. Interfaces with staff responsible for environmental health, safety and security to ensure procedures are followed. Provides input on the efficacy of the outreach programs in coordination with academic units at Texas A&M University at Qatar. Assists the development officer in raising funds to support STEM outreach efforts. Interfaces with the Office of Admissions to assist in the recruitment of qualified Qatari students for Texas A&M University at Qatar’s engineering degree programs. Supervises administrative staff and student workers in support of STEM outreach programs and events. Performs other duties as assigned.
