The Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences (VIBS) in the School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (SVMBS) at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a full-time program coordinator to assist with the Veterinary Public Health-Epidemiology (VPHE) and Science and Technology Journalism (STJR) graduate programs. The position will be based in College Station although students and faculty located at both the College Station and Canyon (VERO) campuses are served by these programs. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years of related program administration experience

  • Experience in graduate admissions and advising

  • Experience interacting with the Graduate and Professional School

  • Previous experience or education in epidemiology, public health, science writing, science editing, or a related realm

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic skill level in web design, advanced knowledge of word processing

  • Intermediate skill level in presentation design, spreadsheets and database applications

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Advanced written communication, oral communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to work independently once given a project

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Intermediate skills in maintaining websites; basic skills using social media in professional settings

  • Basic familiarity with copyediting and proofreading

Responsibilities:

  • VPHE and STJR Program Support - Assists with recruitment and admission of VPHE and STJR students. Advises VPHE and STJR students about degree plans, petitions, and other requirements and paperwork. Prepares and updates recruitment materials. Corresponds with undergraduate advisors and others at Texas A&M and elsewhere to inform them about the programs.

  • VPHE and STJR Reporting and Evaluation - Performs specialized and complex tracking of VPHE and STJR students. Follows up with graduates of the programs regarding progress in their careers. Compiles information for periodic reviews of the VPHE and STJR programs and for other evaluation requirement.

  • Administrative - Provides staff support for events such as workshops and presentations associated with the VPHE and STJR programs. Maintains records for the VPHE and STJR programs. Coordinates with financial staff on billing issues. Assists with scheduling and other administrative functions for the Science Editing Laboratory.

  • Social Media - Oversees programs' websites. Maintains the programs' presence on social media​. Coordinates with mar/comm for more extensive coverage/marketing of the programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
