The Program Coordinator I for Undergraduate Student Academic Success will coordinate, assist in the development, and implement the programming for Hullabaloo U, and Science Leadership Scholars’ programs.  The Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing efforts to assist A&S students, especially first-generation students, and students from underrepresented populations, in the acquisition of academic, social, and professional skills; and assist in first year and multi-year programming. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of program management experience including some course management and academic counseling

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Position may require occasional evening and weekend hours and may require occasional travel

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree.
  • More than five years of experience in program management including some course management and academic counseling, and classroom instruction

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with TAMU portals, such as Argos, Navigate, etc.

Responsibilities:

Coordination and Implementation of Hullabaloo U

• Coordinates planning, development, and implementation for the college’s Hullabaloo U sections.

• Assists with the development, and updates training materials and course content for Hullabaloo U.

• Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning.

• Attends local, regional, and national professional meetings related to student success, and first generation and/or underrepresented student success.

• Assists with the development of transition and retention initiatives that are informed by best practices in higher education to address needs of first year, first generation, and/or underrepresented students.

• Assist peer Program Coordinator with oversight of transfer student programming.

• Evaluates student experiences in Hullabaloo U courses.

• Assists with the preparation of reports on Hullabaloo U program activities.

• Teaches a minimum of two courses for the program.

• Direct oversight of the coordination and assignment of student mentors for Hullabaloo U, including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and evaluation.

• Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with collaborating offices and departments.

• Responds to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate.

• Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming.

• Collaborates and maintains successful working partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, and specialty support programs

Coordination and Implementation of Other Student Success Programs

• Coordinates planning, development, and implementation of other undergraduate student programs to improve first year retention and empower first year students, particularly first generation and/or underrepresented students, to succeed academically, professionally, and socially.

• Provides data for reports related to various programs’ progress.

• Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning.

• Direct oversight of the student mentors for programs, including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and evaluation.

• Assists in establishing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for all college FYE programming.

• Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with collaborating offices and departments.

• Responds to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate.

• Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming.

• Coordinate with peer Program Coordinator when needed.

• Teaches a minimum of one course for relevant program
