Who we are  

Undergraduate Recruitment and Outreach (URO)  has multiple units focused on prospective student and family engagement designed to help students navigate a pathway to Texas A&M University. Those units include; Community Outreach and Inclusion, Strategic Partnerships, Marketing and Communication, the Visitors Experience, and Undergraduate Recruitment.  These areas work to assist students as early as middle school with  college access information and handle our freshman , transfer, international, and other prospective students who wish to apply to Texas A&M University.  Undergraduate Recruitment and Outreach is responsible for recruiting and enrolling an academically prepared student body geographically, ethnically, and economically diverse. In addition, Undergraduate Recruitment also offers several opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit campus throughout the year to learn about the rich traditions and culture of Texas A&M University.

The Community Outreach & Inclusion unit is seeking a Program Coordinator I, who will work in collaboration with other coordinators to coordinate and execute programming and youth development for the Brazos Valley Promise program. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for scheduling and conducting regular small-group programming at school sites around the Brazos Valley as well as planning and executing 2-3 on campus programs for student participants each year. The ideal candidate has strong planning skills, is able to multi-task, and thrives in a team environment. This person should have a passion for working with youth and increasing college access for under resourced communities. What you need to know

Salary Range : $42,511.45 - $49,712.00 annually.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in college access role or another applicable field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to educate parents and students about college-related information.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Knowledgeable about social media, website editing, and creation of creative collateral.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two to three years of experience with Advise TX program.
  • Experience in advising, recruiting, teaching, coaching, Student Affairs or other related area.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Zoom.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Programming - Responsible for the development and implementation of the Brazos Valley Promise program, its students, and other areas designated by the Director of Strategic Partnerships and the Executive Director of Admissions. Assists the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Executive Director of Enrollment with establishing and maintaining an evaluation system for all academic programs and compiling program statistics, including the oversight of assessment processes, data collection, and use of assessment results to improve student learning. Participates in the collection, interpretation, and presentation of data for the continuous evaluation and revision of the Brazos Valley Promise Program. Assists the Director of Strategic Partnerships with the memorandums of understandings with the school district partners and works with the service high school counseling teams regarding student selection at each service high school campus. Works with Texas A&M University departments/colleges and community college partners in building on plans of study and utilizing instructional resources to continuously develop strong early college degree pathways and avenues of industry certification. May assist with monitoring and preparing budget and budgeted resources. May assist in identifying funding opportunities. Initiates and facilitates meetings to provide regular opportunities for high school guidance counselors and administrators to discuss and review the program. Responsible for building out programming throughout the year at the service high schools.
  • Advising/Mentoring - Educates assigned Brazos Valley Promise students on a variety of college-related topics including admissions, financial aid, and scholarships. Communicates frequently and effectively with students and parents at each service high school. Anticipates concerns whenever possible and addresses them appropriately when they arise. Develops and updates training materials and delivers training to undergraduate and graduate Texas A&M students to serve as Ambassadors.
  • Outreach and Communication - Plans and implements the related events that take place at Texas A&M University. Manages relationships with partner high schools. Establishes, nurtures, and sustains relationships, communication, and collaboration between and among school partners’ counselors and administrators to resolve issues that arise. Initiates regular contact with high school guidance counselors and administrators in support of the Brazos Valley Promise program. Seeks feedback from guidance counselors regarding program activities. Consults with principals, counselors, and teachers, responding to inquiries regarding program offerings. Participates in the coordination of marketing, communication and branding items for the Brazos Valley Promise Program.
  • Representative - Represents Texas A&M University in district, community based and school level meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
