As a thought leader on the Women, Peace and Security agenda, the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS) serves as a critical resource and platform for policymakers, practitioners and grassroots women peacebuilders seeking to drive progress for women and girls around the world. GIWPS partners with stakeholders - including multilateral organizations, national governments, and large foundations - to inform evidence-based WPS policy and practice via convenings, campaigns, creative.

Job Overview

The Program Coordinator supports all elements of GIWPS programs and special projects - including coordination, execution, administrative duties, and program management - and play a key role in maintaining GIWPS as a respected and growing global platform that advances progress for women and girls around the world.

Through coordination and support of the Policy and Programs team, they enable discussions that elevate women peacebuilders and shape the WPS field, as well as successful partnerships with key stakeholders that directly influence policy processes and ongoing educational and outreach related convenings.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the GIWPS Director of Policy and Programs, the Program Associate works closely with the Executive Director, other members of the Policy and Programs team, and related Student Assistants.

This position has been designated as Hybrid . Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.  Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in program coordination and administrative support
  • Demonstrably high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communications and writing skills
  • An ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excited and willing to take both initiative and direction as appropriate
  • Experience drafting external and internal communications, briefings, social media content, and email blasts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in diplomatic environments and knowledge of international affairs/gender issues
  • Experience with contact management software, Mailchimp, Canva, Google Suite, and event management
