Georgetown University’s Gender+ Justice Initiative (G+JI) aims to build on the long-standing, path-breaking research being done on intersectional gender and racial justice across all departments and campuses; to catalyze scholarship and advocacy in these areas; and to make Georgetown a dynamic hub of knowledge production, community engagement, and policy development on intersectional issues of gender, racial, and economic justice.

Job Overview

The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing the programmatic agenda of G+JI and day-to-day operations; facilitating collaborations with internal and external partners; and serving as point of contact for G+JI programs and events.

By providing remote and onsite program support, they ensure the success of administrative support, strategic planning, financial administration/operations, event coordination and communications efforts.

In all responsibilities, they apply their experience in event planning, program design, budget planning and finance operations, and communications and outreach.

They also collaborate with the co-directors and team to design and implement a long-term strategy to advance GJI’s mission.

Work Interactions

Reporting and working closely with the Executive Director and  the Faculty Co-Directors, the Program Coordinator undertakes the development and implementation of the Initiative’s programmatic agenda. As well, they interact and work closely with faculty, students, fellows, vendors/suppliers, GJI’s partners, affiliates and other audiences; and supervise 2-3 part-time student employees.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong interest and commitment to racial and gender justice and interdisciplinary research
  • Experience in event management and/or experience with educational programs
  • Experience managing multiple projects involving multiple parties and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and logistical skills
  • Ability to independently organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communications skills, accompanied by the ability to interact and communicate in a positive manner with a diverse audience, including students, faculty, scholars, artists and vendors
  • Organized, proactive, and highly responsive, flexible, and adaptable
  • A good grasp of accounting procedures and transactions
  • Proficiency with Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Canva and Adobe Acrobat Pro - preference for WordPress or other web editing tools, and mailing tools such as MailChimp
  • Experience with Social Media storytelling, content management and production
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to pick up new technology quickly

Work Mode: Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
