Description

 

The Program Coordinator is the primary administrative and managerial staff member working with the Director of Governor’s School for the Humanities (GSH) and Manager of the Ned Ray McWherter Institute (NRMI), to plan and execute both programs on the UTM campus in accordance with the State Department of Education, the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the NRMI Advisory Board.  The GSH is an annual grant funded program and the NRMI is a private endowment funded program. The coordinator is a full-time position 50% time for GSH and 50% time for NRMI.

Duties & responsibilities include:
Program contact person – maintain regular office hours to serve as the primary contact person for each of the programs.  Receive and process all correspondence for the director and manager. Maintain positive relations and interactions with university staff and departments, donors, TSDE representatives, school officials, prospective students and parents, external stakeholders, advisory board members, volunteers, etc. 

Program administration – assist the Director and Manager in the planning, organizing, and execution of various school and institute programs.  Participate in recruitment and selection of participants.  Program budgeting.  Student worker supervision.  Negotiate and arrange for campus service and facility requirements.  End of year reporting of performance and activity. 

Financial responsibilities – process of billing and accounts receivable, expense recovery, posting and reconciliation of ledgers, full-function personnel activity, selection, supervision, evaluation, processing salary and wage payments.  Monitor endowment reports. 

Contract management – annual contracts with the Tennessee State Department of Education and NRMI Innovator performance. 

Inter-agency collaboration (primarily with NRMI) – work with state and regional partners in cooperative programming and support.  Entities such as WestStar, Tennessee Association of Community Leaders (TACL), chambers of commerce, business associations, state and local governments. 

 



Qualifications

 

Qualifications 
Minimum 
High school diploma and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Competency with financial systems and business practices 
Demonstrated, successful business setting performance 
Mastery of electronic office systems (email, MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.) 

Preferred 
Knowledge of and familiarity with University of Tennessee information, financial, human resource, and student data systems.
