Position Highlights | Food Safety Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of Yavapai County Cooperative Extension's food safety programming under the direction of the Family, Consumer and Health Sciences Area Associate Agent. The incumbent will deliver direct food safety education and training throughout the county, report programmatic progress to county leadership and potential funders, develop and maintain community relationships, participate in community events and collaborations, and coordinate the Yavapai County Food Safety Industry Council in partnership with the Yavapai County Community Health Services Environmental Health Services Department. Position may be located in either the Prescott or Camp Verde office. This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. Duties & Responsibilities | Assist in developing, and delivering the Yavapai County Food Protection Manager Certification (FPMC) and other food safety education and training programs to improve food safety practices for local food establishments, such as restaurants, schools, food banks, and local food vendors. Facilitate the FPMC class and proctor exam both virtually and in-person in Prescott and the Verde Valley. Ensure that program materials are accurate and up-to-date. Work with accredited, national certification testing provider to proctor exams and communicate about testing updates. Monitor program budget and expenses. Coordinate the Yavapai County Food Safety Industry Council (FSIC), in partnership with Yavapai County Community Health Services; maintain ongoing communication and engagement with Environmental Health Director and Sanitarians, FSIC members, Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, and food establishment and community stakeholders; identify and address educational needs and priorities; and monitor FSIC goals and progress. In collaboration with other Yavapai County Cooperative Extension faculty and staff: Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement other food safety-related educational programs focused on meeting community needs and improving life skills, including home/community food safety and food preservation. Depending on community need/interest, staff time and expertise, and available resources, other topics might include basic culinary skills, reducing food waste, garden food safety, or high altitude baking. Develop, coordinate, and maintain communications and content for a variety of information dissemination outlets, such as social media, website, newsletters, etc. Document activities in on-line data management systems and assist with preparation of reports and program records for management or outside agencies as needed; collect program data to assist in evaluating program impact to communicate with county leadership, potential funders and external stakeholders. Collaborate with local community partners on food safety, food systems and related concerns by attending meeting and events in the community; provide community presentations; and serve as a community resource to other local stakeholders. |
